Anyone esle think this would be amazing on the rift?

I was thinking about the atmosphere for Summoner's Rift at how, at times, it sorta got boring and that's when I thought of this idea; weather and time in Summoner's Rift.

I think that Summoner's Rift could become 'randomised' and that it would pick a different atmosphere for the map out of, say, three options. Imagine joining a game only to see that it's night, the only light coming from glowing runes and torches across the rift. Or another time when rain is pouring, the torches have all gone out but you can still see where you're going. I think that playing in such a rift would give an incredible feel to the already atmospheric rift.

Obviously there are different atmospheres for maps like the treeline or the abyss but considering most games are played on the rift, I think this would be a fantastic idea.

What do you guys reckon? It may be a little ambitious but I reckon Rito could pull it off.

Actually, I think this could really make the environment feel more "realistic" as if it were living and breathing also. I also find it'd be cool to be jamming out to hardcore rock music with an in-game thunderstorm while getting a penta. And, the best thing about it, people might say: "Oh but this will just lag our computers even more!" and then you present the whole REMOVE WEATHER EFFECTS/ATMOSPHERE EFFECTS option in the settings and there are no further problems.

Lucian would be OP, permastealth whenever it's night.

Nope. Against what Riot made the new map about. Clarity.

Rain affects, changing weathers, changing lighting etc. Somewhat distracting and that is why they aren't going to add it. Nice idea but just goes against the map philosophy.

And while I don't think it will be as big of a performance hit as some people think, an option to turn it off will obviously exist. But again it won't happen.

Good idea. This can also be another option for custom games. I feel like custom games should be more customizable.

I can't say it would be really unappealing to look on an orange-hued afternoon summoner's rift.... or a stormy rainy one to set an atmospheric battle... I could just see parts of the jungle with little details like the ruts and gouges forming small puddles... you know Riot would go all-out on it if they did.

This idea sounds amazing. Costly, but amazing.

I would be fine with different textures depending on the season. or holiday.

I have better idea.

The longer the game the colder. You could then easily distinguish between early and late game.

I would really like it if there was just random weather (3-4 weather styles) with a short day/night cycle that takes like 15 minutes or so to complete. It would also be cool if jungle camps changed/got stronger at night giving different buffs. Like it's more dangerous to kill jungle camps at night, but more rewarding at the same time.

It gets boring because you sit half an hour in lane every game playing Farming Simulator 2011, not because of the aesthetic.

Play Dominion if you don't want to get bored.

I would love something like this with all my heart.

Sounds wonderful. Maybe occasionally we could add an Ascension-like or Doombot-like atmosphere too.

It's going to cost A LOT of ressources to do it IF they do it I would love it though :P

This sounds awesome but it could make it harder/easier to see certain things.

I would love this to be implemented, but unfortunately many League players, like myself, play on lower middle class average computers. This would make League lag only harder for us.
