warcraft 3 different map looks - Google Search

summoners rift is a perfect layout im just totally sick of looking at that same foresty feel. Warcraft 3 does a great job making different region maps i.e. the snow, desert, tropics ex. I think it would be great if riot vould just give us some different map looks. im not saying change the layout of the map just the visuals. and you could make the creeps change based on the region you are in. It could be random for every game from maybe 4 different map styles, it wouldnt change the flow of the game in any way shape or form just the maps visuals so this is an easy thing to do. maybe they could even do maps based on some in game lore/skins who knows but it would add to the game so so much and it would be so easy to do! please do it riot

scroll through some of the pictures in the link to get an idea.. not the best example but if you played warcraft 3 its good enough:)

They just changed the map this season probably because of your point of having the same thing but I agree it could use some different colors like maybe as the game progresses the map changes seasons, so during fall the leaves would fall off then it would turn to winter and get snowy that would be cool.

We should get a sandy beach map every summer that comes along with a bunch of pool party skins

Even in the original warcraft 3 dota each side of the map had its own theme, like one side was lush green trees and the other was undead ravaged land, they really need to do stuff like that to keep it fresh.

Look up "Yuriki works". He releases map skins frequently, which you can use with a downloadable tool. It does only show up for you though. :/

Would be nice...

Only been playing for a few weeks and I'm already tired of the same boring old map.

All i know is, with the amount of money this company is making they should put together a devoted team like they would for the skins and make cool visual map updates..

Nice idea in theory, but it's better from a gameplay perspective to have both sides uniform with eachother. Even with minor differences (that includes the location of neutral mobs) it creates a discrepancy in win rates between the two sides.

Different map skins would be awesome, but look how long they've been working on the new SR and it's still in beta. Imagine if we had 2-3 other maps that needed extensive testing with each patch. There's a reason featured modes are so limited, and why they don't stick around. Each different map is a huge resource drain, and if you've played on anything but SR, you know how little resources Riot is willing to devote to maintaining multiple maps.

edit: one more thing I forgot to mention: client bloat. That was iirc the main reason they got rid of winter SR (aside from the various bugs and performance issues they could never seem to fix on that map)

Personally, I think having different style-looking maps for the same layout/gamemode is just awful. No offense, but there's not really a point, at all. Sure, having dynamic parts of the map would be amazing, but having randomly chosen themes, or even map skins, isn't practical.
