Hyperboosted loading times

Everytime I watch the loading screen for 2 to 5 minutes I ask myself:

From the point I clicked the "Join a Team / Match me with teammates / ..." button, isn't it clear which map (ex. Summoner's Rift) should be loaded and therefore can already be preloaded in the background? (And as soon as a champion choice is fixed it can be preloaded too.)

When the PVP.net Client eventually switches to the Game Client, everyone has already (pre)loaded everything necessary. Therefore: No loading time!! (Or at least much much less, if you have some toasters in your team.)

Why shouldn't it be possible? I can see only benefits.

I don't mind the wait, gives everyone time to get themselves ready before the game starts. My biggest problem would be that I wish you could communicate while it loads. I mean, you're sitting there for what, 4-5 minutes at the longest sometimes, why not allow players to talk strategy to their team and better get to know each other before having to play together as strangers. Seriously, how hard could it be to include a chat system in the loading screen? Just my input, personally I think it would be beneficial not only because it would help you better acquaint yourself with your new-found allies, but that it would also give you and your team a chance to talk more strategy rather than when you were in champ select and were more concerned with whose going where or what champs to pick etc.

the PVP client and the actual game client are two different things, unlike Dota2 and Smite, so pre-loading might be difficult.

That is an interesting idea. Let's hope a few Rioters see this and drop their opinion. :)

They'll likely do it when they change the client. Can't wait for season 7.

It sure is possible from a programmer's point of view, i dont see why it isnt either. the only problem is the way the game is programmed already. I've never actually decided to look into the itty gritty of how the clients are coded, but I can tell you (and anyone with half a brain could), that the duo client idea is bad for this reason exactly. As far as i know, the game client cant load two things separately (i.e. the map before the champ), but further investigation would be needed. its a good idea, one ive been thinking about myself for a while, so i hope someone sees it!

I think this is a good idea and would definitely cause more efficient loading. I, as a programmer, know that this is definitely possible, but it would likely be difficult and take more than a summoner 11 considering the fact that Riot Games has already implemented and used a duo-client for a while (as far as I know because I haven't played LoL for very long). I don't know, but this discussion may just call for some knocking on wood to be sure of preventing the idea from being Jinxed. Too much discussing something and somebody will end up Jinxing us all. If we do get Jinxed, though, we would need a really TwistedFate to keep this idea alive. Changing the duo-client system would be both the easiest and hardest way to bring what this discussion is about, and it would definitely summoner 3 some Rioters.
