see thats the point, im perfectly fine with spending all my time on the role that i find fun and am actually good at. I dont see why i should be forced to learn another role when i'd be better if you got someone for each role who played that role best. and im fine waiting even 15 minutes to find a full team than being forced to do a role other than adc, doing really bad, and having the deuchebags who are in every game yell at me.

My point was, the game isn't : learn one role really well and do nothing else.

Part of this game is learning multiple roles and being able to do what's best for your team.

Of course this gets misunderstood when the pro's play only one role but that's because they're all in 5v5 teams (which you can join for this purpose) and when they do solo queue they'll main that role but won't always get it. It also gets misunderstood because people level up to 30 via teambuilder. Teambuilder is meant to let you practice a specific champion in a specific role (possibly with specific people who are willing to let you try something off-meta). Teambuilder is not just so you can only play your preferred role (but that's how people treated it, and thus that's how it has become). (As per evidence, why else would teambuilder adjust your mmr based on playing a new role).

You should try things out in teambuilder, but play draft normals and learn multiple roles before going in to ranked. At minimum you should be competent in 3 roles, and preferably all 5.

This reason isn't just to be able to fill every game. It's also because YOU'LL GET BETTER AT YOUR PREFERRED ROLE IF YOU KNOW HOW TO PLAY OTHER ROLES. I'm not kidding. If you know how to play mid, you then know when mid is going to start roaming and know what path they'll take and know when and where to ward to keep yourself safe as an adc from the mid+jg gank that comes at 8:35. If you know how to play top you'll know that the enemy ward dropped behind you is somewhere he can teleport to and flank your team from behind. There's lots of gameplay you'll learn from practicing other roles that will make you a better player overall - which is why you should have practiced them all before going to ranked.

I don't understand why you've been voted down, this is well worded and accurate. The top players make it to Diamond + because they're well rounded players, and that's how it should be for a ranked solo queue.

It really isn't a great point. First of all he isn't even level 30 so he can't play ranked and in ranked you shouldn't be "trying new things" you should be doing what you're best at. Its not normals and it actually matters to some people, nobody likes to hear "first time" in ranked. (unless of course they are saying its their first time in ranked)

First of all you don't know if that's their only account. Second, people that are ranked agree with him. Have you ever watched any of the UNSW LoLSoC videos?

You also misread their comment, they said that team builder is for trying new things, not ranked. And you also completely overlooked or ignored their final paragraph.

I agree you should try to do what your best at, but what happens when multiple people are 'best at' the same thing? And yes, I did say try new things in teambuilder. Work it out in normals, play it properly in ranked. Properly meaning play the role that you're best at ad that's what your team needs.

still would be nice to be able to pick your role for ranked though. i play everything BUT adc, say that, then everyone locks everything but adc if im last pick. i only have 2 adc champs.

this really screws me over a lot. you would be surprised how often no one wants to adc.

the reason ques in team builder are short right now are because it isn't the main mode,so supports(the most obvious problem) come from other ques for a shorter que,whereas mid players may get frustrated and leave the que.

I know this is sort of theory craft,but based on what supposedly happened in Wow,I think there's definitely room to suspect the same issues may arise in lol.

I do not think it is the final solution for everything, it has his flaws and problems still. But i think it deserves a chance, because looks more solid than actual draft.

Why not join a 5v5 team? Pretty much exactly what you're asking for, it just takes more effort. Would you want Ranked TB to replace Solo/Duo Queue?

Would cut down on pre-game raging in the lobby, and likely reduce some in-game raging.

As for queue times, I'm willing to wait longer so I can get my preferred role (support) and not deal with nerdlings screaming at each other for top or mid.

Also, im in silver 2 because i cant get out of it because im forced to do roles im bad at (plus people usually feed). People in silver suck, they make dumb plays, do stupid stuff (and think that baron is a guaranteed win). Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a team, let alone a gold one when your in silver?

you can already see the issues with team builder with que times. now for the challenger players that can sometimes already be in a 15 min que this team builder would not work. In high diamond/challenger que times would be way too long.

On the one hand I'd rather play a completely different game than have to ever ADC, on the other hand I thought the entire point of ranked was to separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. Which just means that being forced to play roles you're uncomfortable with makes you a more well rounded player. Besides even normal Team Builder has problems right now with wait times because so few people queue for Support.

I mean look at most high diamond players. They tend to stick to one role and are usually known by other players for maining that role. Making Ranked Team Builder makes nothing but sense and should be implemented, I don't see any reason not to or how hard it could be.

Defeats the purpose of learning more than 1 role. Also would detract from the base for draft, making it take longer to get a match and matches would be less even.

They should do what Dota 2 just did with ranked blind pick:

put a 30 second time period before the champ select begins to allow teams to introduce themselves, coordinate strategy and pick their lanes.

Think about it, the normal team builder already has some long queue times for certain roles, the queue times for team builder ranked would be ungodly. That alone is reason enough to not allow it... 30+queue times because no one wants to play that non-carry.
