How about a 10v10 map? or 15v15? 20v20?

I think it would be kinda cool to have a gameode like this. i dont really have much to say other than having a party of 5 in each lane would be really funny hahaha

That would be pretty nuts, but as other people have already pointed out, performance would be a big concern. We did some investigation recently and found that # of player champions in a game drives the how expensive a game is (CPU / memory wise) far more than any other factor (i.e. # of bots, specific champions, specific skins, game duration, etc...).

One can dream though :D

On a related note what steps have been taken to attempt to lower the strain on the players rigs? Is the new client going to reduce amount of system reqs?

We have a team that is focused on improving performance of the game - they were the ones that did the investigation I mentioned above. Something you might have noticed is that load times have gotten faster recently (in the past 6 months or so?) - they helped a lot with that.

That being said, it is everyone's responsibility to monitor performance. For example, the maps team did a bunch of things for SRU (including some interesting animation compression which isn't mentioned here): http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/gameplay/dev-blog-optimizing-rift

And the game systems team fixing an in-game shop freezing issue: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-510-notes#patch-shop-performance

Caveat: These are game client performance stuff, I'm not very knowledgeable on performance outside of the game client, so I can't really speak to that.

Can you ping the maps team on if they have plans to optimize other maps?

I was meaning mainly on optimization of the code so that there was less background code if you will and thus allowing the strain from adding 2 or more players to be negligible at best. This would allow for future 10v10 game modes whereas right now we can barely handle 6v6 without a multitude of errors and bugs appearing.

that shop freezing bug isnt that common amongst mobas ? it was also in dota 1 HON STRIFE and in Dota 2

Would it be possible on a LAN server? Just out of curiosity.

Hexakill comes out this patch. Just see how much longer it takes to load, then think again about if you really want 20 or more players on a map.

or a 10000vs10000?

That would be absolutely horrible IMO, especially for people with only okay computers. Imagine not only the loading time, but also the tremendous amounts of lag during team fights. Even people with decent computers would likely have an unbearable amount of lag.

Chill with the 20v20, I could maybe see a 10v10

I remember there was talk about a four-lane, 2v2v2v2 mode a long time ago. The map was basically a giant "+"

Try for a 7v7 first.

The amount of toaster who are gonna complain...

Computers around the world would explode. And lane XP would be at a all time low. But it sounds pretty fun xD

RIP servers.

Too many people on a map would probably cause a bunch of performance issues.

Like, imagine any issues you have in a regular game on Summoner's Rift. Now multiply that by 3 or 4. That is how bad the 10 v 10 map would be, and it would be even worse with more people.
