Draft Pick All Mid - gametype suggestion
I have been playing League of Legends since the middle to end of season 1... Therefore I have seen a lot of gameplay, competed in nearly 2000 matches and garnered a lot of opinions.. Up until now I have kept these opinions to myself, after all Riot Games employs some of the greatest minds the gaming industry has ever seen.
That being said, here is my suggestion.. We need a new game type that will actually stick around for a while, shurima was fun, rapidfire mode was fun, All-For-One was fun.. but the problem is that none of these game types have stuck around. I get that supporting Classic mode seems to be the flavor of the last 4 years but the question begs to be asked, what is next? after playing classic for two years and becoming subsequently bored with it, I switched to dominion, played that religiously for over a year until I figured out there would never be a ranked dominion and players dont take the gametype seriously. I was disappointed to say the least considering this community is one of the most competitive I have seen in my 10 years of online gaming. So I switched to ARAM.. Gotta say I love ARAM but here is the problem for religious gamers like me who own over 100 champions, because we have supported the game so hard, gained so many champions, champion select in ARAM is getting to be very frusterating, we end up with players who refuse to trade specific champions, and religious gamers like myself end up with a crap team comp because we have so many options that champion selection favors those with few champions to select from meaning that I never get to play the champions I want to play the most.. You may be thinking "gosh well if you dont want to play a random champ dont play ARAM" and you would be right.. but that delegates me and players like me back to classic.
I think there is something wrong with that, I think there needs to be a change so that we dont have to hop between gametypes due to frustration with something as simple as champion select. Also ARAM is now suffering from the same problem Dominion suffers from, people dont take it seriously and sadly I am beginning to wonder if the point of ARAM was to create a gametype where players could relax and not worry about how well they are doing because their excuse is "its random, who cares". If you dont see what is wrong with that mentality then there are bigger issues at hand!
Here is my solution, we need to have RANKED Draft Pick All Mid. Talk about a killer map, imagine people taking Howling Abyss more seriously, a map which truly promotes team play and a more competitive community of players. This would allow for even balancing between teams so that champions which are ultimately cheap picks in Howling Abyss could be vetoed before the match depending upon the players in it. Also it would create a more competitive gametype and open up new possibilities for players who like the map but dont want to be stuck with a champion that has little to no team cohesion with their current team mates. Team composition would be better, gameplay would be more competitive and players would take the map more seriously. Also this benefits Riot Games because it opens up a new avenue for the company to pursue. Dont you think its time we made improvements to the secondary maps? How long are we going to tout Classic as the ultimate competitive MOBA gametype? It is time for some new blood while League Of Legends remains the relevant online gaming juggernaut that it is, and I for one would love to see some changes made in this direction. Maybe I am sour because I just lost two matches with terrible team comps or maybe I am not the only one that believes this type of change would be beneficial, I would love to see other members of the community put in their opinions on this matter. At the very least I think RIOT should give players who own more than 100 champions a better shot at playing their favorites in ARAM since we fanatics tend to be at a disadvantage here. Whats wrong with being able to select a mere 50 of your 100 + champions as a pool to choose from in ARAM so you dont get stuck with a champion you dont want to play anymore because you bought it 3 years ago before the gametype was even considered?
OK Ill take a breather here, I wonder if anyone will actually take this seriously, I hope so, because I believe I am not the only one who currently feels this way.
