I agree with you that the re-roll system in ARAM is incredibly broken and is due for a change. But it actually punishes all players with different numbers of owned champions. I am relatively new to League and even though I'm level 30, I only own 15 champions.
When I am picking the champions I buy, I don't even think about how it will play in ARAM. The mode often times too one sided and broken to worry that if any of my champions are melee, I'm done for. I think about how the champion will benefit my play style on Summoner's Rift (I really don't like SR either, but that's for another time) as SR is the map I play on 80% of the time.
Having said this, I put no consideration into how fun (or painful) it would be to play say
in ARAM. Why blow 6300 ip, which is hard to obtain in the first place on
** just** to play ARAM and there's no guarantee I will get him either. So with my tiny 15 champion pool maybe only 7 are viable for ARAM. And on top of that I have to worry about the champions I don't want to play with at all that come in the free week. I don't want
I never bought him, why am I forced to use his kit which is inadequate for ARAM style play? AND I only get the extra re-roll points for the 15 champions I own. WHAT? So I get 7 good ARAM champs that I own, ok cool, points. I get 8 champs I own unusable for ARAM, oh well at least I get points. Then the free week puts up 5 extra champs I know nothing about, and sometimes they suck on ARAM, but no points come from them. How is that totally fair? I get the idea of trying new champs, but where are the points? If i'm spending or wasting 30 minutes on learning a new champion, shouldn't there be a tiny award of re-roll points for doing so?
So the problem of the re-roll is relevant for people with large champion pools who have to worry that 20 of their 40 champions are not amazing for ARAM. And for people with small pools who have a similar probability of great or bad champs occurring. But in addition to this, people with the small pools gain re-roll points slower. And they are discouraged from playing games to get those points when they get a bad team comp or a champion they are uncomfortable with. So dodging occurs.
A new re-roll system should incorporate a calculation in which you get 3 re-rolls by default EACH game. It resets every new game. But for every 15 champions you have** available** not just own, you get another re-roll chance. So if someone has 30 champions available, he or she would have 5 re-rolls available each game. This may seem like a lot of re-rolls, but 30 champions can seem like a lot, and maybe only 20 of those 30 are fun/viable in ARAM. Thus people don't directly pick broken champions, but they aren't encouraged to dodge games either.
for the poros!
for ARAM!
