Two New Game Modes

Hey everyone, ScarletStump here with two new original game mode ideas. Enjoy!

DISCLAIMER: I've tried to steer away from numbers as those can be established and/or changed for gameplay balance accordingly and appropriately by someone who actually knows what they're talking about i.e. Riot. Also, numbers are not the focus here. Rather this post is meant to give a brief gameplay overview as to what a player can expect should s/he play it.

Tele-Portal This mode is centered around map wide presence and the rules are as such:

  1. Everyone is given a new summoner spell (created by Jayce) called "Piltover's Gate"
  2. It's very similar to TF ult in that you can teleport to any location by hovering your mouse over the area you want to teleport to and activating the ability.
  3. However, it's fundamentally different from any other teleporting ability in that activating it does not interfere with your movement or ability to cast other spells.
  4. The cooldown of Piltover's Gate is also substantially lower (think urf mode).
  5. The cast time between when you activate the ability and when you actually teleport is five seconds.
  6. Finally, crowd control effects/abilities still affect the target normally but can only disable a teleport if the effect duration coincides with the teleport timing. If this occurs then the ability goes on a soft cooldown.

That's pretty much it. At first glance that might seem understandably over powered for someone to have that amount of mobility but the counter-play is that everyone has it. The real intent is to create an opportunity for some unexpected flashy plays and also creating an experience where you never know when you're gonna get five-man'd just four minutes into the game sitting in lane. But just as easily as they can five man you, you can get out of it. It really creates an interesting and unexplored paradigm that seems like it would be really fun to experience.

** Homeland Security** This mode is based on encouraging player-to-champion lore interaction and the rules are as such:

  1. During champion select all ten summoners will get to vote as a team for which part of Runterra/Void they want to fight as. (Off the top of my head) -Freljord -Demacia -Void -Shurima -Shadow Isles -Piltover -Zaun -Bilgewater -Noxus -(other)
  2. After the faction is selected, any and all champions within that faction and only champions within that faction are available to the team that chose that faction.
  3. Once in game its a matter of defending or, for some special cases, establishing your homeland's honor.

Do you have what it takes to show Runterra what kind of place you represent? This game mode provides the perfect outlet for players to get connected with each faction, who resides there, and what they represent. It's about reinforcing player ties and also helping create new and unexpected love towards an entirely new group of champions.

The faction idea in particular is interesting, but I like both.
