New Ranked Surrender Options

We need a new option in Ranked matches.

In the case of a match where an ally does not connect in the first three minutes, we should have the option to surrender the game, with no gains/losses in LP/series to either side.

Either that or start just ending matches where players don't all connect. There is no need for a match to be played in Ranked where everyone isn't connected. All it does is cause player frustration and annoyance. We don't like losing out on a series because you're under manned - it just isn't fair. Likewise, you like happy players, because they're more likely to give you money by buying products and they're more likely to share your game around, getting more potentially paying customers.

What real argument against this idea is there? People will start abusing it? So? Rather everyone goes neutral than someone leaves / afks / trolls then makes their entire team lose, and the enemy team get an unearned win.

You have nothing to lose in this Riot. Only something to gain.

Most of the time people not connecting at the start of the game didn't want to go afk. They just had a computer problem or a power outage. Once while loading a game I crashed. It took me 15 minutes just restarting the computer and going back in the game. It would be stupid to penalize people that have no control on what is happening and didn't even wanted to afk in the first place.

I agree, however, maybe the time limit should be increased to 5 minutes after the match starts, some computers are very slow to reconnect (such as my potato) and even if the dced player truly tries to reconnect as fast as possible, the game could end before he rejoins.

Second, although I love this idea, the majority of leavers/afks occur about 15 minutes in when one player "decides the game is no longer winnable" and leaves, NOT when a player fails to join the match.

On the whole however, wonderful idea.

This is a bad idea. How are you going to combat the people that just disconnect from the internet cause they got forced into a role they didnt want. Or Players who think they have a bad match up can pull their internet connection.

Your giving a people a way to freely dodge.

BAD IDEA.

Should still lose Elo, just make it half as much Elo. If you allow this option, people will magically not connect when going up against players they know who are too good. This is more likely to happen at higher Elo, but it's still an issue. Terminate game within, let's say, 8 minutes if one person doesn't connect. Anything beyond that, it's about impossible anyways.

That being said, I have won with only 4 people and lost when we had 5 and they had 4. It's part of the game. Hopefully as riot fixes their servers this will be far less of an issue.

If someone never loads into the map it should just count it as a dodge and boot everyone to the main game entry screen with an alert that someone didn't connect.

The leaver should get the same penalty as a dodge.

Sorry, but if you can't maintain a stable internet connection, you shouldn't be playing ranked. It's not likely that it will happen so frequently that you'd end up banned for it, and if it is happening that frequently, then you are negatively impacting WAY too many people WAY too often and should be banned from the game regardless.

The thing is, if someone never loaded due to an HONEST internet problem... like I dunno... their ISP went down for an hour... then a dodge penalty won't really sting that much since it would literally be like a 6-30 minute ban from ranked... which doesn't matter at all if you can't even connect to the internet to play.

I really don't see how the current system is fair to the NINE other people in the match. It's a frustrating 4 v 5 for one side and a potentially boring 5 v 4 for the other side. Nobody really wins in that scenario.

But if it just boots everyone out and punishes the D/C player, then it would prevent abuse since it's still applying dodge penalties. You couldn't just get into champ load screen and be like "nope, not playing against this team" and d/c and lose nothing for it.

For normals it's whatever... but ranked seriously needs to be 5 v 5 only and anything else is not a game. I really don't know how LoL can call itself an e-sport/competitive game when it doesn't even have a check to make sure 5 people are on each team.

You don't see basketball games taking place where it's 4 v 5. "well, one player missed his flight so he won't be able to make it... oh well, just play anyway... this will count on everyone's stats regardless"

So every level 1 first blood would turn into a surrender by the first blooded team? Sounds dumb.

The game should pause for 2-5 minutes if someone isn't connected, if after 2-5 minutes that player is still not connected, then game should end. The player that did not connect and anyone they queued with should be penalized equal to a dodge + a bit more for making everyone wait 2-5 minutes. No one else gains or loses anything.

If the players that were in the game requeue, they should get moved to the top of the queue.
