Team builder "Estimated wait time" changes based on the champion you choose.

If you select the marksman role and choose a traditional adc, the wait time (for me, atleast) says "very short". However, if you choose a champ that isn't an adc, the wait time changes to very long. Ex. Caitlyn, Ashe, Draven, and lucian are all traditional adcs, and my estimated wait time is very short. Poppy, Shen, Mundo, Gragas, ahri, and any champ that isn't an adc gets a wait time of "very long" If team builder was made to promote nontraditional gameplay, why is it set up to limit champion choices?

Actually the wait time is approximated. it tells you how long it thinks you'll need to wait before a captain will say "yeah i want that on my team" and let you play whatever it is you wanted to play. it comes up as "Very long" when i want to play tank sion because sion is supposed to be a "fighter", but in reality the wait is rather short.

I don't understand why you would want to play any of those non-traditionall as an "adc". but I understand your point. they should all be the same length, then the team captain decides if he wants the "non-traditional" poppy adc

As much as I love team builder it too is sadly a connection to the "meta" granted I will not say I am not a victim and person who looks for safe champs like say I am bot and am karma well I'd naturally want a Jinx or maybe even a kallista granted I prefer jinx over kallista usually. So I think by extension it is going to get convoluted because team captains are going to kick 2 or 3 players cause they donot feel they fit into the team they are building granted having a non meta build should be communicated to the team as a whole BEFORE the captain pushes the ready button and players should be given a choice to opt out of a non meta build yes I know there would be a lot of issues on making wait times worse and such but if you are even considering a crazy non meta build now there are safe non meta builds for one champ if you really know how to PLAY them if not then you should not be implementing them in a game without testing them first. and communication helps a lot too However I will admit I am an unorthodoxy build karma I donot build a "spellthiefs knife" like most supports do. I go for other stuff first. So I'm non meta build too

The wait time isn't how long you'll have to wait before you get into a team queue, it's calculated based on the amount of open queues with that lane/role open and how likely that champ is to be accepted into that lane/role. I'd imagine the chance of a champion being accepted is based on statistics rather than hard coded values, so if poppy has a very long wait time for a bot lane marksman role, it's because very very few captains have accepted a marksman poppy. Team builder doesn't tell you when you find an open team or when you get denied, so you likely get denied many times even though you sit there waiting for 30 minutes.

The estimated wait time, is the whole time you have to wait until you get into the game.

The non traditional champs have longer estimated times because they tend to be kicked out of teams and have to wait for another.

the wait time ive found isn't really accurate, yes ive had the situation where it just switches to very long with certain champs, but ive also found it doesn't really matter, just Q up and it will still be very short if it says so for the role aka mid mage or whatever, doesn't matter what mage you pick, you will get into a group as fast as with the other champ however , I think it also estimates based on if that champ is getting kicked a lot from lobbies, etc.

so far I haven't had any trouble, whatever the thing says I just Q up and most of the time, I get into a group before forty seconds so it really doesn't matter
