9-1 placement matches, moved down to bronze?

I'm not sure what really happened....I know my mmr was a little below silver, OP.gg said my mmr was "below average". Still, I worked really hard in my placement matches and got 9-1., but ended up going from silver 5 to bronze 1? I've heard people have gone 9-1 and moved silver 5 to high silver/gold? Anyone have the same thing happen?

Edit: just checked op.gg for my mmr, this is what it says "The Average MMR for this league is 1,347. 1,171 MMR Welcome to ELO hell."

Was B4, went 7-3, went to B5.

Like Riot said in the Season 5 post, placement matches are no longer going to make or break your rank and put you way higher than you belong and you will also go down some (because the seasonal ladders are designed to reset your rank and make you work for it again. That is how it ALWAYS works no matter where you go)

I saw that, but I've looked at threads where people posted their results and a lot of people move up one division for even going 6-4 or 7-3. I wouldved thought I at least got 1 division for going 9-1.

It is based on your MMR, not your ranking. You can be in S2 and have an MMR for G4 so might get placed in S1, while a person in S2 but a lower MMR might get placed in B1 for the same placement wins.

I realize this....my mmr was probably around bronze 1, but then do placements not really matter? Then what's the point of trying really hard in placements?

Pretty sure sucking your Placements directly hurts your MMR. But Riot doesn't give specifics so people can't abuse it (too much).

my score was 5-5 and the system put me in bronze 4, so idk wth is happend i think 5-5 can be silver 2 or 1 dunno

Its a hidden number that approximates your skill level. When you win, it goes up, when you lose it goes down. Go read wikipedia's page on ELO for a general idea of what it is. Your MMR can be wildly different than your Rank/LP suggests based on the difficulty of opponents you face.
