I'm new to the forums so please go a little easy on me. I'm finding myself strongly opposed to the idea of Red vs. Blue in the new SR. Red is the first color seen by the eye and gives the blue team a distinct advantage. Both blue and purple are considered 'cool' colors, and although purple has red in it the eye isn't immediately drawn to it like red.
What are everyone's thoughts on this? (Excuse me if this has been a topic already)
red and blue are the colours used in colourblind mode already, and most people (especially the pros) play with colourblind mode on because it is designed to be more clear and have the 2 teams easily distinguishable. for example, your character's health bar is yellow, rather than the same colour as your teams. the new visual update follows along this line of thinking, bringing visual clarity to the game, so it only makes sense to use colours for the teams that are less similar than the default ones right now. perhaps 2 different colours altogether could be used, but i believe riot has already done a lot of work deciding which colours fit best in this situation.
as well, just because the eye may be drawn to the colour red a little more, does not mean one team has an inherent advantage. i would say it is just as important to be able to see allied creeps/champs as it is to see enemy creeps/champs.
Personally I prefer Red and Blue..
Will there still be color blind mode?
I seriously doubt this will matter at all the trained eye. Especially since champions don't take on team colors. They just have 1 (one) model (you know, unless they're those morphing champs). The red/blue thing is to help color blind people out, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I think that the purple color had a place in the league of legends' lore... I think that keeping the blue and purple color is good, but to make it more clear for the opponent, it could be interesting to make the other team red.
You can turn the summoners rift into blind mode color and the purple team becomes red i don't think it affects the gameplay that much (i have tried both)
But everything is already red (and not purple) when you're playing blue side.
