Teambuilder Should Get Bans

Hi Everyone,

I've been trying Team Builder for awhile now, and thought that just a couple of tweaks would make it so much better. I main support, and do some jungling too, and while I play Normal games, I win some and lose some. In Team Builder, however, a vast majority of games were lost. That is, of course, until I just said "screw it" and started playing Blitzcrank all the time, because that seems to be who the other support chooses almost exclusively.

I felt at a disadvantage for wanting to try to learn the ins and outs of other champs. All I really wanted from TeamBuilder is to secure my spot as Support, and that's all. In normals, if you don't call your spot first, you might get stuck in a role you have pretty much no clue of how to play properly. Or, if you do call your preferred role first, sometimes people just don't care, and take it anyway if they pick before you.

So, I just wanted to put out there that it would be great if there could be some tweaks for TeamBuilder that took great pieces from that mode and the Normal/Ranked mode and put them together:

  • Use TeamBuilder queue to secure your preferred role. Have the same lobby, but you don't get to pick a champion just yet. This is mainly to just have everyone definitely on the same page as to who is playing what.
  • When matched with another team, you enter the Normal/Ranked draft where there are picks and bans.

I also think that this would help people prepare better for when they're ready to partake in ranked mode. While dodging hooks (or knowing how to respond when a teammate is hooked) is definitely valuable knowledge, it gets boring after facing Blitzcrank support 20 times in a row. It gets even worse when it's a Blitz vs Blitz support about 15 of those times.

The reasoning behind Team Builder, besides its use in exploring a non-traditional lobby, seems to be the arrangement of compositions that are strong in and of themselves, not necessarily ones built to counter the other team.

In doing so, Team Builder creates an atmosphere where players can learn to adapt to the play rather than the picks. I believe each match type (lobby versus non-lobby) serves its purpose, so although your idea is well-thought-out, I don't necessarily agree that a lobby would be the best way to handle picks in Team Builder.

However, if there was a way to easily integrate opposing team previews without resorting to the current lobby format, I'd be interested in seeing what that had to offer.

Entire Point of teambuilder is to get to play your role and champion, having pick and bans would ruin it for people if there champion that they wanted to play was banned. And Norm Drafts were FOR preparing for ranked not Team Builder. Team Builder was for so you could play whatever champ you wanted and watever role without someone else taking it.
