I won 7/10 of my placement matches and got Bronze 5. I am wondering how this is possible saying I was Bronze 2. Also my friend who was never ranked and won two placement games somehow got Bronze 3. I'm wondering how this is possible.

Riot announced that there would be a soft reset and that takes your current elo (mmr) adds 1200 then divides by two. They also announced you would probably end up lower than what you currently where. So, with that being said your friend only winning 2 games and getting bronze 3 he was unaffected by the reset so he had placements that were fresh, you don't have to win much of those to get bronze 3.

It's a horrible system for those, like myself, that fought hard just to eke our way out of Bronze hell, only to be buried back there again. I was Silver 2 at the end of the season (I may have dropped to 3, now that I think about it, though). After going 6-4 in placements, I ended up in Bronze 4. I knew I'd drop, but had no earthly idea it'd be that hard, especially with a slightly winning record.

Frankly, after spending 6 months fighting my way out of Bronze last season, I'm not willing to endure that unending stream of volatile players again. I will sit out this season, and hopefully Heroes of the Storm is a bit more worth my time! As much as I love LoL, I just don't see myself investing time into it at the same level.

I was S3 at the end of last season, went 6-4 in placements, got placed back in B1. Won a few games and now back in Silver. I'm not gonna say I belong in Gold, because if I did I'd be there. Play the games and eventually you'll end up where you're supposed to be.
