Why not make the previous featured game modes like U.R.F. and One for All be Rotated like the free champion rotations? I know this would make league players happy and they could also match the game modes like Ascension or Legend of the Poro King with the free champion rotations!
Seasonal and event game modes like Ascension and Poro King wouldn't fit, but I agree with other game modes. Hey, Smite does it. And they allow the community to pick and create game modes to be featured each day! Yeah, each day. It's possible.
I am honestly not sure why there isn't always a featured game mode. I can understand rotating them, but I don't see the point in leaving month long gaps between them.
It's more profitable to keep them rare, people buy the skins, summoner icons and such associated with the featured game mode because they are rare and the window of availability makes it hard to pass up
