With the removal of the concept of Summoners from the game does that mean Summoner's Rift is up for a name change? I do enjoy the concept of it being a rift and was wondering if Riot has stated anything about this.

Re: OP - it won't. The name Summoner's Rift is so iconic that it'd likely remain in popular use even if Riot 'officially' changed it. I believe that the specific red post that explained that is on the first or second page of S@20.

Toa of Death3 votesBut with "Summoner's" in the title it implies that the Summoners created it or own it. You guys have stated that you want to cut all connections to Summoners and the Institute of War but Summoner's Rift remains a connection to that lore.
DerPunkt3 votesAlso looking at the new Rift... well you can't even say new rift since it is no rift anymore. A rift is below ground, or at least enclosed by walls. I already stated this in a thread about the VU of the rift. A name change to Summoners Plateau ore something that pays respect to the new "background" or surroundindings of the the area we call Summoners Rift. I mean when yoh look at the boarder of the mao you can clearly see that it is located on a mountain.
Soo the whole name becomes a farce now. There are no summoners, and it is no longer a rift. How on earth can it stay the "Summoners Rift"?

I realy like the update. Everything looks somth fits into each part. For example, I love the new background, it looks very cool and adds this scenic awesomeness. But it is not rift.
- A chasm or fissure. **My marriage is in trouble, the fight created a rift between us and we can't reconnect. **The Grand Canyon is a rift in the Earth's surface, but is smaller than some of the undersea ones.
This is the wikitionary definition of a rift. This means a rift is a place where the face of the earth was teared appart and by that created a canyon. The background of the new SR looks like it is located on a mountain top. There is nothing enclosing the scene and therefor nothing to creat the impression of being in a canyon-> rift.
The name "Fields of Justice" still works for me, in the end it still is rather flat area somewhere on the earth were we fight for justice, well maybe anymore after the lore section is undergoing massive changes aswell, but i guess fields of justice will stay a fitting name. But It lost the riftish style. Thats why I think a name change would fit, this would also creat the possibility to get rid of the summoners. I guess anything with plateua or summit in the name would work. Maybe Runic plateua, hallow summit i don't know, you got so many creative people employed and also all the friendly people on the boards :D ask them :D
