Attitude based off game mode.

This is a well known thing by almost anyone who has played long term and I am sure many people have varying opinions.

However the worst thing I can hear in a normal mode match is that it is normal thus it doesn't matter.

This attitude should be unacceptable in league. Doing silly builds, setups, or even comps is completely acceptable as long as your team understands that in select. The issue lies in the fact that some people do not want to attempt to win because the match is not ranked. Regardless of mode this should be unacceptable within the summoner code and an offense which can be reported. It is often difficult to tell how serious someone is taking a match if they do not speak up or act out in an obvious manner. In these situations I can't honestly say someone is not trying to win so long as they continue to assist the team in some way.

The only reliable way to mark someone for this is the famous line

It's just a normal game

This to me in any way shape or form is a sign someone is not willing to attempt to fight their way to victory with their team. This is someone who views the match at pointless and a waste of time. Yet there they are in game playing with you in that normal and being your team mate for that game. If players can be banned from ranked they should be able to be banned from normal for essentially not caring about it.

The overall topic is EXTREMELY touchy as they are often best described in a case by case basis. I feel that the community would agree that the general idea of not wanting to try and win because of the game mode is unacceptable.

TL;DR My statement here is that those who OPENLY admit they will not try because it is normal is unacceptable. Thoughts?

I honestly agree with this statement but the way it is approached is weird. Instead, why not post about an idea of a game mode where people CAN do whatever they want, instead of disrupting the game for those who are using normal games to practice mechanics and plan to go for ranked?

I would look forward to a game mode with not knowing what to expect, and not have to follow the meta or else have my fun entirely shut down when I do want to do something strange because my teammates want to have a 'meta' game.

Re-approach this topic with the idea of another game mode, instead of calling it attitude based of game mode, call it a new game mode for those who aren't wanting a 'normal' game.

just something different, as the current name seems to rub off attention the wrong way.

I honestly understand those who say 'its just normals', because there are those who take it too seriously. But at the same time, we all need to have a place where we can get the trolling out of our system, where winning or losing isn't entirely the objective, but a side effect of having fun.

"You must be this passionate to play"

Probably not the best business model for a free game that the vast majority of people play casually for fun. Sometimes you just want to fuck around because you're drunk and you've got an hour to burn, and I can't think of any successful game that's prohibited that sort of behavior.

It sounds to me like you don't play a lot of ranked games.

For me, after I played a lot of ranked games, normal games became stress-free games where I could try new things. Like, I do a lot more risky plays just to see if it'll work, I try new champs, new builds... Obviously I try to win every game but TBH a lot of the time I throw games because I'm experimenting with new things and it doesn't always work out. And to be even more honest I don't mind losing at all if I learn something from it.

If I only played my favorite champ, and only made the most low risk plays possible, I would never get better. I would throw a lot less games, sure, but I wouldn't be improving nearly as much.

Let's be real, in a normal game there's almost nothing on the line, win or lose. No one's in a promotion series, no one's getting demoted, no one's stats are getting ruined. it's just for fun/practice. That's why I personally don't take them too seriously.

It is.

That is unacceptable.

"It's just a normal, chill out" is not evidence that someone is intentionally sabotaging your game. Just because they disagree with you on tactics (like splitpushing when you think they should group up) does not mean they are intentionally throwing.

"IDGAF, I'm gonna do whatever", "I'm done", "f*** you, I'm gonna do what I want" -- that's someone saying they're not trying.

You can't force people to be on their A-game, even in Ranked play. Over time, matchmaking puts people where they belong based on their skill and the amount of effort they're putting in. Unless they're blatantly screwing around or intentionally feeding, not going all out isn't punishable behavior.
