To Keep Nautilus, Nautilus

Please don't change Nautilus', Nautilus, general backstory. To any Nautilus players, lore enthusiasts, and storyboard developers out there, I would like to state that Nautilus seems to be getting a new lore along with many other champions. While this is nice overall, I found out the basic outline for it appears to be very different from his previous backstory, now making him out to be some mysterious monster that just attacks things. I urge you, Riot, to keep the general story behind Nautilus the same or just barely edited. Me and probably thousands of other people like Nautilus because of his backstory, how he was a sailor, how he was transformed by an unknown substance, and how he is seeking revenge on those who left him to die in the depths. Just listen to his in-game quotes or the Falconshield song, "Revenge" or Dave C's "Lore of Legends: Nautilus The Titan of the Depths." Heck, just look at all the comments and see what they have to say!

This to me is what makes Nautilus, well, Nautilus. It makes him relatable and sympathetic, a character who seeks retribution for the life he lost, yet does not even remember. It is the strongest reason as to why Nautilus was one of my favorite champions in this whole game. Without it, he is just going to fall in with all those champions who "lack" an actual backstory.

If anyone agrees or can shed their own experiences with this character, I suggest you comment, discuss, or make it known to the devs as much as you can. It would be great to get this out to the story developers and editors so that we can keep the essence of Nautilus alive in the revamp of Runeterra and it's lore.

You come up pretty late with that, the lore updates in the client were some time ago already.

Anyway, I am not worried when it comes to that. How I interpret the stuff we got, his backstory is mostly the same, with a little alternation.

If I had to describe his new lore, I would say that Nautilus became the Davy Jones of Lol. I think that Nautilus still was a sailor once, he still got betrayed and left alone in the dark depths of the ocean.

The change is that it wasn't a mysterious black goo that transformed him. I think that he actually encountered Nagakaborous (Illaoi's god).

Think about it. Nagakaborous wants you to stay in motion, wants you to want to live. Maybe down there in the depths, Nautilus' sheer will to survive and taking revenge on his comrades who betrayed him impressed Nagakaborous. And so the god granted Nautilus a new life, with a new, strong body.

Nautilus now roams the oceans as a servant of the god, but he was still looking to get revenge by sinking the ship of the traitors. Or perhaps he already got his revenge.

You see, just like Davy Jones having a pact with Calypso, he had a pact with Nagakaborous and now roams the ocean for her tribute. And I would love that backstory for him.

I mean, this isn't very unlike the update that happened to Viktor initially. People were complaining that he was painted purely as a villain, and with what we had at the time, he was; but it was worth noting the rioters pointed out that it was based off of the perspective of the people telling the story.

Then we got actual stories of Viktor and they got a much appreciated, and very well done, update to his story; keeping his character that the players loved in tact while giving you more to work with.

I see no reason that this can't apply to Nautilus. Also, SatomiKun's comment is a good read too.

Honestly,Nautilus now roaming the oceans makes more sense to me than him coming to Bilgewater. I mean can you imagine the colossal titan of the dephts to just casually walk through bilgewalter? Him wandering the dephts feels more natural for his character.

Turning him into someone that sinks ships also makes sense, because if he is underwater the whole time, then he can't really interact with guys on the surface that much unless he throws his anchor at them.

Eitherway, like Satomikun said,we don't know how he became the thing that he is now,so its easy for his new lore to keep the theme of betrayal and revenge.
