Some Opinions about Pantheon, please.

So as we all know Mount Targon got a nice Update turning the place from just a Mountain with 2 Cultures ( Rakkor&Solari) into kind of a Connection between Runeterra and celestial Aspects ( Rakkor and Solari remain but thats for now not important). These Aspects all embody various things, the sun, the moon, war, and life, at last these are the ones we know, although there are probably other aspects, too. Every Aspect choses his Avatar, the Aspect of the Sun has chosen Leona, Moon went for Diana, the protector (life) had chosen Taric and War, the only Aspect known by Name, Pantheon, had chosen Atreus, whose personality got completely obliterated, as this was the rule of Pantheon. His host would gain immense power, but would in turn lose his personality. (But...perhaps, some rules are meant to be broken...). At least thats what I got from the Lore.

We also know that Pantheon is pretty high on the VGU-List, not quite Urgot/Eve priority but probably right behind them. This is understandable as right now, he is just a regular spartan soldier, like if someone at riot watched 300 and took some random dude from the Legion and put him in lol. There is, except the ult, NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT HIM. He blocks your attack, throws a Spear at you, stabs you 3 times, knocks you out for a Moment with a Little shield bash, and then his ult, which is the only Special Thing about him.

So we know his actual thematic is Spartan Nr.143, he plays like an assassin ( jumps on the carry and deletes him) and is, all in all, a rather squishy dude. At least I have NEVER seen a tanky Panth. His new thematic, however, is the God of War ( or aspect but in this case, theres not much of a difference.) So what would be expected of a God of War? In my eyes, this assassin like gameplay should be scrapped. A more juggernaut/heavy fighter like gameplay would be more fitting, as I think a god of war should DEFINITELY be able to take alot of hits ( seriously, what laughing stick would he be among the aspects if he would eat some attacks and collapse? just imagine the protector laughing his ass off as he helps him get on his feet), as well as hit hard by himself. The ult is actually fine, it makes thematic sense, him being a celestial aspect mandropping from the sky into the battlescene, as seen in his new lore when the barbarians attacked once again.

I´d like to hear more Opinions, if I am the only one that would prefer a Juggernaut/heavy fighter panth over this light fighter/diver Panth, if there would even be ideas for abilities etc.

And his VO should be him and Atreus split. I would sell my soul and DIE for sarcastic interactions and stuff like that.

I do think an Aspect of War should be a bit more tanky and able to last in long encounters. And i FULLY agree with his VO being Atreus perhaps peeking through every so often. (Maybe they'll keep the Baker line and that was Atreus' dream instead of becoming an Aspect)

I don't think Pantheon needs to be terribly tanky. War, especially that in the old days and from a Greek-inspired mountain region, is about large shields and lithe, nimble combat. The Spartans weren't dressed in full blown body armor - they had harnesses to hold their weaponry, they had skirts to shield their groins, and they had sandals to protect their feet, and the iconic helmets to protect the head. From time to time, they may have had shin or wrist guards, but that is hardly heavy armor. So in that sense, Spartans are not very good at taking hits at all once you remove their shields. Pantheon should be the same way. He should keep his Aegis passive, to give us the feel of his shield, but he should generally not be tanky when it's not up. He should focus on building AD, HP, and maybe a little bit of armor, but he should primarily build skirmisher. His kit does need some dramatic overhaul though. I feel like pretty much every skill other than Man Drop is forgettable, and they should really fix that to give him a little more oomph and grandeur. As for how he looks and speaks, I HATE the empty helmet look. It's so 1990, and it's such a drab look. He needs a visible face, but it needs something like the hollow eyes with the missing irises, and crackling energy radiating from them. He needs to have a sort of fierce aura around him, and his weapons need to look celestial in nature. I can see giving him orange or fiery looking particles for however they animate him, to give him the fierceness of being a god of war. As for his voice, Atreus is gone. This was explained as much in his lore update. There would unfortunately be no warring inner monologues, just the god of war showing through. I hope they update him soon though, he's such an eyesore next to the other 3 Targonians.

I'm too biased to answer, because I like Pantheon the way he is right now.

What is panth technically even labeled as? Bruiser? Or?

Well, a bit from my perspective.

I like that he's a Spartan soldier first and foremost. Actually, I can say that the only reason I play the game is because my buddy told me "Hey, you can play as a Spartan and beat people up." I do not give a single shit about the space parasite stuff.

So if I was going to redesign Pantheon I'd try to focus more on what it means being a Hoplite, but you also have to at least give some service to the old players who actually enjoy playing him now.

Personally, if I was changing him I'd still have him as a diver/bruiser rather than a real tank. He pushes forward and fights, like he currently does. But, I'd have him be able to survive slightly better and actually do things when he's in there. Currently, Pantheon jumps into combat (good), deals a good amount of damage (good), and then he can't really do anything. He has no escapes (something, I'd personally keep), and once his burst is down he's not really much of an auto-attacker, so there's a bit of a lull unless you're really good at stringing in spears. I'd take a little away from his burst, add a bit to his survivability, and make his fighting in the mix of things a bit more than just a cycle of cooldowns.

But, honestly, I think the biggest change that needs to happen is to even out his impact a bit. Right now he's possibly one of the top 5 lane bullies in the game, and then drops down so significantly by the end that it's possible to not even notice him. I'd keep him as a lane bully, but, just tap it down to reasonable, give the enemy a chance to lane against him successfully, but make his presence felt even to the end of the game.
