New Splash Art - Replacing Purchased Skins

When they announced that they would be doing new splash art, I was excited. Some of them have been great! I'm REALLY excited for the Galio rework. However, when they started replacing my purchased skin's splash art for art that I didn't like, I started feeling like I'm getting robbed of skins that I payed good money for. And since I'm up to 6 of my really loved skins being changed for the worse, its starting to make me upset as a customer. Not only am I losing the skins I loved enough to spend money on, but I also don't want to buy more skins because I don't trust that I will get to keep what I'm buying.

What I think would be a great solution is to allow people to keep their old skins as legacy skins. Put them into the vault so new people can't buy them. That allows riot to make more money on the new ones if people like them and want to get them. And customers won't feel robbed of good skins that they previously spent real cash on. Anyone else have similar thoughts?

So just because a Splash Art was replaced with a higher Quality Splash Art that you didn't happen to like, you think you deserve compensation? Honey, you're just being a spoiled brat at this point. Get over it and move on.

10/10 advice. It's not even a matter of the splash arts being "higher Quality", it's a matter of them being completely different to match the new visuals of the champion. You can't really argue against his point. It would pretty much just be saying "Your opinion is wrong!".

Except that you can argue against it?????? You can Argue opinions. Personally I believe the splash-arts fit the skins/visuals perfectly fine. If you don't that is your opinion, which personally I feel is wrong. It's not a matter of the Splash not fitting the skin, the skins have not changed, this person is just upset over the Splash Art change. Just moving on, is pretty solid advice.

I'll admit some are great and some are just awful, an example is classic Irella...now she just looks like a tired old lady imo (she's still strong af) but her splash isn't really appealing anymore.

Haven't been called a brat in like 30 years... thanks! :P Higher quality is in the eye of the beholder. Obviously I think that all their splash art is less than what I had originally.

Some of my favorites that I loved but have been ruined now imho: Crimson Akali Bilgewater Swain Prestige Leblanc Cow Girl Miss Fortune Waterloo Miss Fortune Uncle Ryze

I don't know how you can say that all of those are improvements.

All of these except for Uncle Ryze and Prestigious were all changed due to the unification Act. If you have read the post you'd know they are all going to be changed in the future anyways, are just here as place holders until we see full Splash Art updates. If you did read the post then you just missed their point.

They were changed due to Riot wanting to Unify both the Eastern (China more so) and Western regions in regards to Art, and whilst you could say "Why not Change the Chinese ones" is because, as you probably know, China has strict laws in place in regards to what can and can't be shown. In regards to some specific cases, the resolution of some Chinese splash arts just fits better to the client, such as Waterloo MF and Sakura Karma presenting clearer and more crisp images.

In regards to Uncle Ryze and Prestige Leblanc that all falls under personal opinion, but the current Splashes convey a much clearer and more satisfying vision then the old ones did. The Clone in the background of Prestige Leblanc, Uncle Ryze appearing on a Propaganda poster etc all work together to convey better Fantasy's then Ryze in a blurred void and Leblanc in a slightly checkered, mostly blurred void.

Spash art happens to be the whole reason I buy the skins. I can't see many in-game skins on my computer.

You should always look at the IGM (in game models) INSTEAD of the splash arts. Splash arts can be cancer and disgusting but its the in game models that matter.

My favorite example is Zyra. Her "Haunted Zyra" splash art is amazing and it made me want to buy the skin really badly. But then I took a look at the in game models, and used a program to load up the skin in a custom game so I could see if I liked the effects and all that. (Note I don't think this program is allowed in normal games so I don't recommend using it so I won't even share the name)

And I absolutely HATED THE SKIN. It's disgusting in game. Instead of being this creepy, hardcore skin. It looks like someone made it out of play-doh and all the animations look like someone dragging a wet noodle across the ground (her E looks nasty I mean come on. Tell me it doesn't look like a bunch of wobbly arms flopping around instead of the creepy arms reaching out to pull you into oblivion that it should look like)

Splash art's can suck yea, but they don't matter in the grand scheme. I for example think Pulsfire Ezreals splash art looks amazing but the in game model doens't really look that good.

Splash arts don't matter that much. I don't really recommend begging riot to change them.
