So basically sonas etwal or however its spelled has two sets of three strings giving it six strings total. The problem is sonas instrument doesnt have a finger board to press down on the strings like a guitar does. So if the strings can only be plucked then her instrument can only make a total of 6 different notes. This is a problem because there is actually 12 musical notes. So basically its like a harp with 6 strings. Also any piano players out there notice the keys on arcade sonas splash art.

The note produced by a string may be varied by altering the diameter, tension, or effective length.

Note that a Dobro, for example, only has six strings and they are also not pressed against a board.

Also, magic.

Edit: The instrument could also produce both natural and artificial harmonics. I'm leaning toward artificial harmonics as being a major part of the technique.

And is it three strings or six? The bridge in the middle may just pass over the strings, and could even move up and down to alter the string length.
