About the new Jax lore

The self-styled Grandmaster at Arms known as Jax is a mysterious warrior and sometime mercenary renowned for his prowess in combat and biting sarcasm. While exceptionally skilled with virtually every conceivable weapon, he often chooses to fight with a mundane implement, such as a lamppost, in order to give his opponents a sporting chance.

This right here means that you removed one of the single greatest moments in all of the lore. That it would not have been hard to work around, and that is the point in which he rips a lamppost out of the ground and proclaims to the world that it is all he will ever need to beat anybody.

I know that the actual league is out of the lore (yet for some reason the rift still exists) but he could have been a tournament fighter before he was a mercenary, and then rattle off a streak of victories that had never even been remotely seen so people who ran tournaments decided to not let him use a real weapon in a fight for the sake of fairness.

Just a (not so) humble Jax main's thoughts on the matter.

In the end he still has a high win-ratio despite not even using real weapons,so I don't think it makes such a big difference. I mean in the current lore it would seem rather odd for him to show up at tournaments regularly to get such a reputation,given that tournaments are likely not that common and at different locations.

He does want to fight a worthy opponent, so tournaments would very likely be the first place he would go to find them, and when you win a large amount of tournaments all across the land, you get a reputation to go with it. He wins tourney after tourney handily over a long period of time and people would want to see someone else have a fighting chance so they restrict him, once one tournament does that, just to prove himself right, he would use the lamp everywhere because that is the kind of character that he is.

Perhaps he was a tournament fighter back in Icathia before its fall, and seeing how it's no longer exist, he now become a fighting vagabond and just fights anybody with only a lamppost, because he still thinks it's fair.

Keep in mind that the communication isn't the same as it used to be.

So Jaxs fame can't spread that fast. Add in that Jax will not know about the tournament(or not make it fast enough) depending on his location and I think it'd be unrealistic for him to get such a reputation(not to mention that countries like Demacia would be too proud to put such a limit onto Jax)
