With every champ update, they get rid of more and more lore. Now they aren't even attempting to write stories for the new champions. Just a short paragraph that vaguely describes them. I personally thought it gave the champs more of a personality, and made champion interactions interesting considering a lot of them are connected in some way. Like wtf rito. Stop being lazy bruh.

They don't put lore in the client anymore.
Riot DOES write lore, if you would pay attention. Shen is going the get updated lore, during harrowing the updated backround of few Shadow Isles champ got released (Kalista, Hecarim, Karthus and Mordekaiser), Burning tides (Bilgewater event when GP got reworked), Illaoi got her lore and the small story where she had a little bit face-to-face with still alive GP.
New lore has been pretty solid actually. It was nice how the Burning Tides and_ Shadows and Fortune_ had continuity.
And we suppose to get some new lore for the Lunar Revel this year. Something that's never happened before, so keep a look out for that.
