Speaking of Title Changes... Sivir?

A Bad Idea·10/21/2015, 4:27:54 PM·81 votes·5,801 views

I have always felt for the longest time that Sivir Sivir is in SEVERE need of a title change. From her conception she has had no flavor, personality or points of interest to her character, but her rework has given her tons of lore and a ton more personality, so I'd like to see her title also changed to match her new plot relevance. "Battle Mistress" has never conveyed anything other than that she's a woman and that she fights, so I'd love to see a title more befitting of her desert renegade lifestyle, or her lost tie to Shurima's legacy. Perhaps a "[blank] of the Sands" title to match the other Shuriman champions (I'm personally fond of "Chaser of the Sands"), or at least something that describes her as a hardy desert mercenary.

Suggestions?

The Darude of the Sandstorm.

Yeah downvote me.

EDIT: But really, force connecting with sands or Shurima in title can be a little too cheesy considering we already have a guy who never shuts up about Shurima in this game. Something more metaphorical would be nice.

"her rework has given her tons of lore and a ton more personality"

I really don't understand how you can say that with a straight face. She could actually be the most one-dimensional champion in the League; her rework didn't change or add much of anything. Just listen to her quotes: her entire voiceover consists of paraphrases of the exact same ideas over and over again.

"I'll fight for a cause. I won't die for one." -mercenary, no loyalties "Kings come and go, but gold stays." -no loyalties, money "Everyone has a price." -money, no loyalties "Wealth is my kind of burden." - money "I make my own fortune." -money "Loyalty isn't earned. It's bought." -money, no loyalties, mercenary "You can't tame the desert." -HOLY SHIT THIS ONE'S ACTUALLY DIFFERENT "Laws are whatever works at the time." -amoral "Heroes go hungry." -amoral, no loyalties, money (Ultraboomer) "It's not stealing if they're dead." -amoral, money "The only thing I look up to is the sky." -amoral, no loyalties "Honor is the rust on a dull blade." -amoral "You've got a problem, I've got a price." -mercenary, money "Get paid, and get out." -money, no loyalties "I've got values - they stack up nicely." -money, amoral

In fact I really find it unintentionally hilarious, made doubly funny by her 2edgy4u career smoker voice. She's like an edgier version of Riven without the tragic backstory and quest for redemption. There is of course a lot of room for interesting character development/interaction, specifically with Azir (her amoral mercenary nature vs. Azir's boundless ambition/idealism is a very good foil), but... that doesn't seem to exist in any official capacity.

I personally think that that "___ of the Sands" or "____ of Shurima" would be a little bit cheesy and unfitting. However, I do agree that she needs a name change.

I agree.

Battle Mistress is bad title from when she was just a Xena rip-off. Now her character is a departure from that. The crux of which is she is hired mercenary who will fight anyone if the price is right.

the Huntress of Fortune the Rogue of the Sands the Sellsword of Shurima

Those would be my suggestion to better drive home her notoriety as a deadly mercenary from the deserts of Shurima.

Sivir, The Daughter of Shurima (or something along those lines, like "Shurima's descendance")

Narasimha10/21/2015, 7:12:59 PM4 votes

I think it fits her perfectly. Remember, at her core, Sivir is a mercenary. Her title then would be her merc title, the symbol of respect she's earned for being good at what she does. People don't know she's a heir to Shurima. They don't care that she wanders through the desert like so many others. To them, she's a merc worthy investing in, someone who gets the job done, who doesn't just fight but OWNS the fight. The Battle Mistress. Simple, and to the point.

I dont know...Battle Mistress fits her. She knows how to predict enemy attacks and how to block them with a shield. She knows how to hit all of her enemies who stand near with ricochet. She can speed up to catch fleeing enemies or run back to safety and She knocks em' dead with a large cross blade.

Mistress of the Blade ?

It was on PBE for Fiora once, which turned out to be a mistake. It would suit Sivir though.

Battle Mistress always makes me think of a fat viking lady named Helga who wields an unrealistically large axe.

It might just be me.

Ralanr10/21/2015, 5:16:22 PM2 votes

I can't think of anything that isn't lame. "The Glaive Barer" feels terrible and it's all I can think of.

Yes her abilities rely on that weapon, except for her ult which buffs all allies near her. This makes me think she is more of a leader or commanding force (she did lead a mercenary band). So maybe her title can reference some informal (not recognized as a status of power, but more of a reputation) title for her leadership abilities.

Ill probably get some flak for this but it fits her lore.

Sivir "The Tomb Raider"

sealust10/23/2015, 8:04:15 AM1 votes

"The Bandit Queen/The Queen of Bandits" Queen implies a sense of wealth and authority while bandit conveys her chosen field. buuut pretty damn generic

"Glaive of the Sands" sounds like something from warcraft uhfg

~~"Fury of the Sands" ehhh nvm sounds more like something for Rek'Sai + conveys less control + no gold ~~

Scion of the Sands

  1. Sivir's pre-Azir narrative - She is the result of a nomadic upbringing forced upon her by the harsh nature of desert
  2. Sivir's post-Azir narrative - She is Azir's descendant
  3. Fits the Shurima <X> of the sands template

Also, bonus points for alliteration.
