Ekko, Video expectations vs Gameplay

So, can we all take a moment and take a look at what Riot essentially promised us with Ekko?

We got a champion who wasn't UP FRONT STRONG - key note here, he wasn't strong, he was smart and had a gadget to help him - but instead used creativity and intelligence to win the fight.

What we got is Ekko, a short kid hitting like a truck and NEVER ACTUALLY DOING ANYTHING INTERESTING EVER.

His Z-Drive was pitched to the community as a short rewind for him, that allows him to try again while still having suffered for his previous mistakes. Instead the only time he actually uses his Z-Drive is to GO BACK IN TIME AND HEAL HIMSELF WHILE DEALING AOE DAMAGE.

Can anyone understand the disconnect here? Am I just crazy? It was explicitly shown that he doesn't heal when he uses his Z-Drive, and some of the redeeming charm to this overly edgy, techpunk kid was that even after sustaining his injuries and having won, he went back in time to try and save the mural.

His Kit should have revolved around using his Z-Drive for mobility and regaining CDs, not doing the one thing it was shown to not do (Heal him).

Back to his actual kit though - we saw he wasn't strong on his own in the video. He was athletic, yes, but his strength was his intelligence, timing, and time traveling. His current kit allows him to burst someone for almost 1000 base damage, and 240% of his AP. Thats not weak. Thats not intelligent play. Thats land a Q, and proceed to kill squishies for free.

His entire kit needs to be reworked - currently he isn't interesting, he isnt what we were promised. Hes just another bland playmaking assassin.

Do people still not get the disconnect between lore and gameplay is actually intentionally like that?

Well i was expecting a AoE Rewind ult that rewinds whoever is in the targeted area. But Eh

As for the "he didn't heal in the video" I've had a discussion with someone who actually said that he did heal himself in the video(because it loooked like his arm got crushed, but when he rewinded time it didn't look crushed).Which might mean that he only partially heals himself(like he does in the game).

However it is also easily possible that his Z-drive has multiple rewind-options.I mean his ult doesn't rewind everything(for obvious reasons) and can't be used over and over again, like it did in the video. Thus I'd say that his passive actually represents him rewinding over and over again, finding his enemies weakspots and exploiting them one after the other, but since he keeps the damage that he suffers, its not like it gives him a defensive advantage, while his ingame ult, represents a different way he can use the rewind, which is only limited to himself, but can also be used only a limited amount of time.

And I think Ekko being this strong is mostly because of the usualy balance problems that newer champs tend to have. His kit does have a lot of stuff that can be used to trick your opponents,I mean his W has a huge delay,it is almost impossible to hit without tricking the opponent and his Q only retracts after a certain time,so you have to plan ahead.
