Any Conceptual Reason for Warwick Doing Magic Damage?

I'm just curious if there's any actual reason besides old AP ratios and magic damage from his olden days for his damage on his Q to actually be AP, and if Riot were to rework Warwick would they want to keep him AP, AD, or some kind of hybrd?

He has an outdated kit, thats likely the reason.

However when they worked on a warwick rework(that didn't work out),they talked about how WW dealing magic damage was probably healthier for him ingame. Because WW is supposed to be a drain tank and AD-drain tanks will built lots of life steal for their auto-attacks,which ultimately makes them kinda binary(this is probably aatroxs biggest problem). By giving him mostly magic damage,it is easier to control how much damage ww is able to deal and how much health he gets back.

Warwick has a very old design from a time which every ability used to do magic damage.

his Q scaling from AD would be kinda strong, and not in a healthy way IMO, because then you could have max cdr AD WW healing absurd amounts every few seconds with Q. to offset the damage caused by going a squishy build for even more damage.

Because Warwick was one of the first champions that came with the game back in 2009. Pardon his abilities for not being on par with 2016's Jhin level cohesion.

Jhin’s gun - Whisper - chambers four shots, the last of which always crits and applies extra damage based on a portion of his target’s missing health. After firing all four shots, Jhin takes a moment to reload. Jhin’s crits deal less damage than normal, and his attack speed doesn’t actually scale with attack speed. Instead, Jhin gains attack damage from any attack speed and crit chance he earns through itemization and runes, while crits give him a burst of movement based on his attack speed.
