Pyke and his story seems interesting and all ...

... buuuut he's just gonna end up on Summoner's Rift, which has no relation to him whatsoever (like 99% of other champs), and us players will have little to no interaction with him and his story because we're gonna be so focused on winning the game (which is how we spend time on LoL 99% of the time).

90% of players will only care about the kit. 10% will actually dive into the story only to shelf it among the dusty group of interactive LoL websites that hold other stories. Then they'll return to the Rift again and forget about it.

I liked it better when you could tie the champion's lore into the Rift. I mean, what's the lore behind us Summoners now?

Tbh,even when the rift was connected to the lore, there weren't many people that were interested in the lore either.

And since none of your own league matches have any impact on anything, its not like your matches were really meaningful.

Summoners are non-canon. They have been for years now. The rift is just a what-if thing where everyone can fight each other. The champions aren't tied to a location and required to be regular people or monsters with special powers. We could never have had Kindred or Aurelion in the old lore.
