Bard... is... god?
Ok, before you down vote and ruin my fun idea, I think Bard, the newly revealed champion found here, is God. Like, the omniscient, omnipotent, caretaker of the universe. And as crazy as this claim me be, there is some proof to back this up. I'm simply presenting the idea and leaving it up for interpretation. I should note that when I say "God" I do not mean any real religion equivalent, but just the God of Runeterra, and while his name is Bard he is in no way related to the typical concept of a bard, as he does not appear as one at all.
First off, Bard is referred to as "The Great Caretaker", watching over our physical world from another world. This implies that he is from a non-physical world, a spiritual or Heaven like universe. in fact, he only visits to intervene when needed most (like God), and otherwise dwells in his realm watching our universe. Not only that, but it's seems very God-like to be a wise pacifist of great magical power (I.E. ceasing all combat for the most powerful units) that assists a little but generally intervenes little. Additionally, very little is known about Bard, simply being a thing from another, likely spiritual universe. We have no idea what race he could be and is simply decked in an aged look, a golden mask, behind which seems to be a tiny sun (so bright!), and wears robes on every patch of skin not covered by his massive white mane (kinda like a God's white beard, eh?)
But what about his abilities? While a bit of a stretch, one could say his "sacred chimes", chimes being a common religious item in worship (see "suzu" for a vague example) and considering their golden material could actually represent spiritual luck OR divine favor. Not only that, but these meeps are described as weaker spirits who once done attacking return to the spirit world, which also confirms Bard's dimension as some sort of "spirit world". Next up, his Q, Cosmic Binding, really brings nothing new to the table besides the fact that Bard uses cosmic power, similar to Soraka, a form of priest (I think). His W, a form of healing, creates a health pack at any location that pretty much stays forever, a power a God could and would employ at a battlefield. His E creates a portal, something more akin to the strength of Summoners, beings highly regarded as God-like figures of great power. As for his R, he simply halts all combat for those in a large radius, a power a peace seeking God would certainly use.
Lore wise, why would it make sense for God to join the LoL? Well, I had the idea of the threat of the rising Voidspawn threat to Runeterra was trouble enough (or just getting started) forcing God himself (or our god-like figure) to intervene and help face this danger to the land. I happened to come across this post while scrolling the boards and it seems to relate to the ideas listed in this post, so I'll link it here. The post talks about how Bard may be of a powerful and ancient race (more likely then being God himself) and that he is the good force to go with the bad force of the Voidspawn, specifically stating he'd be a "counter/enemy" to Rek'Sai, one of Bard's current actual counters. So maybe this person was on the right track...
So many godlike beings in this game.
