Over the years Jax has received very little information on his origin or his purpose before he joined the league, but with the arrival of "None shall pass" came what I believe to be a new source of information helping us put together the puzzle of who (or what) Jax really is.

Reading this as a long time Jax main made me giddy with excitement. for the first time we know what could be the point of origin of Jax...Icathia

Icathia is a lost city that has long been forgotten by many and said to be but a fable to those who have knowledge of it, its also said to be the main point of entry between the Void and Runeterra, so when Jax has distant memories of this ancient place now plagued with the void (monsters) it tells us two things

1.He lived in pre-void Icathia and may have been there at the time of the voids arrival and now seeks revenge on void for destroying his one peaceful home.

2.He may have been aware of Icathia but met the same fate as Kassadin and malazahar being corrupted by the void in his journeys explaining his non-human/void born appearance. (could be why he wears a mask being ashamed of his now connection with the void)

What i can tell from reading "None shall pass" Is that Jax has been on the search for some one to join him on what seems to be his quest from the quote "After all, a warrior worthy of fighting at his side in the battles against the monsters from beyond would need to be adaptable." now the part in this that really intrigues me is the mention of monsters, Jax repeats this phrase when being challenged by the Demacian soldier “Monster?” he said, rising to his feet in one smooth motion. “I could show you monsters, but I fear you wouldn’t live long enough to tell anyone what a real monster looks like." Jax is usually a light-hearted champion in his persona but this line really seems to have struck a nerve with Jax making him turn almost cold and icy remembering a terrible event he had once seen (the destruction of his home). This all links back to the fate of Icathia and explains why he is set out on stopping the spread of the void.

I have so much more about this theory involving the involvement with darkin that i thought it best to get someone else's opinion on my theory and carry it on at a later date (if wanted to) so please leave any suggestions on what you think the origin of the lamp post king could be.

Thank you.

I just want Jax to meet Kassadin and be like, "Hey, let's team up."

Jax and Kassadin VS the void. God, I would pay to see that.

I think from pre void Icathia, then shit happened. Now needs help/partner to fight back the void.

{quoted}

1.He lived in pre-void Icathia and may have been there at the time of the voids arrival and now seeks revenge on void for destroying his one peaceful home.

The reason for the downfall of Icathia were the world runes. They used these dangerous runes as weapons, which is why Tyrus (the master of Ryze) “had to“ destroy Icathia by using the world runes on his own (you can read it all in Ryze lore). The void on the other hand didn't invade Icathia. My understanding from some of the new lore we got is, that Icathia was using the void monsters as some kind of bio weapons in war. They probably found the realms to the void via the usage of the world runes. But I do agree with you that Jax is referring to the void with the “monsters“ he mentions in his new lore and that he wants to stop the spread of the void. What I could imagine is that Jax was one of the Icathians who discovered the void, by accidentaly opening a realm with the world runes. This would explain to me why he got purple skin, as he was somewhat corrupted by the void as he discovered it. But after seeing how his leaders decided to use these dangerous creatures as some kind of weapons made him deeply regret his work, since he felt kinda responsible for the destruction created by the void he let into this world. And thats why he seeks to correct his mistake by fighting the void.

My theory is that Jax Jax left Icathia for Ionia before the Icathia got dusted and in the art of wuju for years. Upon returning home he had seen the void and the destroyed remains of Icathia. He tried to fight off as many voidborn as he could whilst looking for survivors and eventually encountered the void. He must've been warped by it like Kassadin Kassadin.

This next part is important

The smoke figure we see in his lamppost, that isn't Aatrox aatrox. The helmet is very different, aatrox's horns point forward not outward, not to mention that it isn't listed as an ally or a rival. I imagine someone who changed the course of your life would fall into one of those categories he is a rival for Tryndamere Tryndamere and even an ally for TahmKench Tahm Kench, there is no good reason he wouldn't be listed as an ally or enemy for Jax unless they weren't affiliated with each other. The only reason that person wouldn't be there is if it were someone who has not been released. Someone who will be released soon.

That someone is a darkin who has been corrupted by the void, that is why Jax came to Demacia to look for someone badass enough to fight the darkin and close the void. I'm assuming this darkin is a mage and the creator of Velkoz Vel'koz.

I do not believe Jax was either a magelord or a protectorate. I believe that the Protectorate were the Demacians and the Magelords were the Noxians which would explain why Noxis has so many powerful mages and Demacia has Aatrox in some of it's ancient artifacts.

That explains why he has purple skin and probable multiple eyes, it also goes well with hte whole "being altered by the void" thing that Kassadin and Malzahar have going for them.
