Who is this Kalista everyone's been talking about?

Last I remember was Riot telling us they wouldn't be releasing anymore female Champions this year, so did they lie? Or is this some sort of false pretense? Then I see all these teasers about some sort of Halloweenish and Shadow Isles themed art everywhere, 7 Champions being shrouded in shadows, could this be some sort of 7 deadly sins thing? Now I see a video in facebook showing us a banner with three pointed spears/polearms and with the quote "We are vengeance", maybe has something to do with the Greek Myth Three Furies?

I don't know, but this is just all theory out of hype but I am 100% sure that these teasers aren't portraying a woman with the desire for revenge.

You're right about the last sentence. Earlier this week, the Brazilian forums were hit up by a Riot account named Fabulista (fable-teller), which was the same account used to narrate the story of River Spirit Nami. They chatted with forum-goers and even answered some questions, but the responses have grown increasingly hostile and erratic over the days, with the character acting as if possessed and switching from describing themselves with masculine pronouns to a more sinister "we".

I'd like to especially point out the following lines:

"There is no "Fabulista", only the mist".

"Who I am does not matter. Who are WE? We are the fallen. United as One, we will ravage those who are against Us--and Our forces only increase."

This is only speculation on my part, but it's likely that Kalista isn't a specific man or woman. Instead, it's an amalgamation of many souls who were killed wrongfully in the past, and used the power of the Shadow Isles to unite into a singular powerful being in their quest for vengeance.

It's also very likely that it's not allied with Shadow Isles per se, since one of its seven targets seems to be Hecarim despite claiming that "The Paladin of Pain and Cleric of Death march to the same beat of the drum as We". We already know from both pre and post-reboot lore that Mordekaiser and Karthus have their own agenda separate from the Ruined King or whoever it is that rules over Shadow Isles.

AFAIK it's been mentioned several times that Morde is in really bad condition mechanically and won't be getting another skin until he gets a complete rework.

Morde is a HP champion who cannot replenish his health, a melee bruiser who cannot stick to his opponents, a paladin who cannot charge and disable his targets, a mage whose weapon moonlights as an AD item on the Twisted Treeline. Also, his art assets are older than my SNES.

Yeah, it's a safe bet he's gonna get a rework.

Because you're Bronze IV and a lot of people in your skill bracket are inexperienced with various aspects of the game, especially when it comes to playing against very rarely picked champions. Mordekaiser has a pick rate of a mere 2%, most people don't even realize he exists. Those who do, know that most of his damage can be negated with a item 3140 and that he has nothing else going for him.

I can almost guarantee to you that you'll reach Silver if you simply stop maining Mordekaiser and start playing champions who provide a lot of utility to your team.

XD his ult can be negated that's it and even than he is a walking tank for the team his dmg is stupid strong and he counters assassin like a Wall to arrows they just bounce right off

I'm unranked because I haven't been playing ranked this season for a variety of reasons. I was Silver I last season, but got lazy about reaching Gold.

That doesn't make logical sense because Mordekaiser has a miserable 2% pick rate, out of which he wins only half. The community has already voted him useless by the value of picking him only 20,000 games per month despite playing 30,000 games per day.

And that makes him useful how, exactly? Assassins don't need to acknowledge him, they'll just go after the carries while the tank rushes Morde and locks him down from doing any damage to high-value targets due to his low range. He cannot tank because he cannot actually keep the enemies from attacking his teammates, all he can do is throw around damage and hope that the enemy dies before they kill his team. And once he no longer has a team, he can be simply focused down.

When a character's strongest competitive point is that he makes people run, aka ignore him in favor of taking out his towers, jungle and other actually valuable objectives, then it's not much of a strength. Killing Mordekaiser won't win me the game, destroying his base will. So I'll just go ahead and pretend he doesn't exist while I destroy his base, he cannot catch me with that 200 range and zero mobility anyway.

That... doesn't relate to anything I just said.

And no, just because Sion can no longer abuse two fringe cases that are effortlessly countered by stunning and then bursting him, doesn't make him worse. It means he has an even presence across the entire game instead of tiny flashes of brilliance followed by minutes of uselessness.

EDIT: Regarding your edit, Riot actually remade Skarner twice because of his low pick rate and the reasons behind it.

As much as I don't think a big deal of Mordekaiser, you are way too strongly talking down about him. The reason he isn't more popular is because of his lack of mobility/CC. His damage has never been an issue, and only some people complain about his inability to sustain. He still has a higher winrate than at least 25 other champions in challenger, master and diamond.

If he's as bad as you say, then that wouldn't even be possible with amazing opponents. Hell even in 5V5 ranked he's pretty good across the board.

In the first 25min of a game, you're not going to have item 3140 . And if you do, where is your damage to break through his shield? And if you don't have any, then how can you expect to stop his pushing unless you're Ziggs or Xerath? And if the jungler is living mid, what's stopping your other lanes from pushing? There are benefits to having Mordekaiser on your team. People just don't want to take the risk and can't really handle the immobile mage.

Oh definitely, I'm not saying Mordekaiser is terrible. He's not as bad as pre-rework Evelynn, for instance. He also has his place on certain team comps, though your reasoning of playing him as a split pushing bully is much better than "he can tank for his team and deal damage". Let's be honest, he's one of the worst tanks in the game.

My point is that there is plentiful room for Mordekaiser to be much better both mechanically and aesthetically. I would say giving him a chance to rise above his miserable 2% pick rate is a good thing.

Oh God, Pre-rework Evelynn......the only time other than Olaf where there was just no reason to even bother (Like did her Hate Spike even do damage? It only hit 2 people. And did ravage even slow?..) I did however like her ultimate as broken as it was, healing after assists and kills...amazing.

But yeah I wouldn't pick him...not gonna say ever because sometimes I get bored, but generally no lol. I would totally be up for any changes they could give him because his identity outside of his shield and having a ghost is....non-existent.

Rumble's problems are completely different. His gameplay kit is fine, it's his rig (the skeleton they use to animate his model) that is in very bad condition.

Morde is like Taric, Evelynn and Sion in that whenever they get to reworking him, they will likely replace most of his toolkit.

I call it. Kalista is just the speaker for a group of souls betrayed by the shrouded champions, come together to form a single entity to enact their revenge.

I'm not sure anymore. The comic meeting in Italy showed some of the same teasers, but it was said that those where from artists. Artist giving out ideas of what they expect from the shadow isles. Including a champion concept much like the one I showed...so idk...I don't even think a new champs coming anyway now
