RIP. You were once a beloved time of the year which everyone was excited for, but not this year. The Harrowing, just. IS. NOT. The Harrowing, unless it's on Halloween. I don't feel alone when I say that I'm very disappointed to play this game without any type of Halloween event, on this special Holiday.

They are better then this year's ones even tho they are older (underworld twisted fate is still one of the best skins in game imo and he is made in 2012.).

It's nice to peak at every once in a while, and maybe watch a match or two, but when it interferes with content in the game itself at any point that's just not on. Worlds is the lowest priority for what people actually like League of legends for.
If you asked me right now if I had to choose between having a kick ass Harrowing event with special game modes, skins, lore, or worlds, and I would throw worlds into the dumpster immediately.
The same applies to game balance, it shits people really hard when Riot favours making champions more entertaining to watch, over making them actually fun to play with and against.

Worlds being on Oct. 31 is fine. Harrowing not being on Oct. 31 (or at least closely before hand) is not fine.
I fail to see how it was difficult to ready a Halloween patch to release right after worlds ended...and hell, on the US/Eastern Asia side of the world, worlds was at like 9 AM.

I'm not saying it's good to not have Halloween-themed skins on actual Halloween (in fact I'm impatient for them right now), but they announced that they are separating Harrowing from Halloween for lore reasons, not because they want to jerk off some more money in march rather than october only. The Harrowing from now on won't be necessarily tied to skins, which means we could get actual deep Shadow Isles lore any time of the year without the compromise of making skins to go with it. They aren't ceasing the event skins, they just won't be forced to sell an event in order to get lore of a place in Runeterra.

They simply didn't want to run an event (special game mode with everybody playing to unlock icons, enjoying new skins, etc.) during their stupid "esport" tournament.

Then why would they separate it for all the following years if LCS most likely won't be in October 31 next year? We are definitely getting a Halloween zombie-themed event soon, it's been confirmed by Riot. We don't know what they have prepared for it, but PBE patches had some nice Halloween icons that could either be 250 rp or acquired through an event.
Making it so the event doesn't overlap with Worlds isn't something shady or sketchy at all, it's the same logic they've always been using. They don't release all skins in the same day in normal patches because they wouldn't have exciting stuff happening throughout the entire patch, as example.
Harrowing was really separated for lore reasons. They want to work on the Shadow Isles lore. It doesn't make sense to separate it because of worlds if you're just gonna release a zombie event in the same time frame as the Harrowing would have been.

They could come out at any point of the year and it would just be another set of skins, and even then the Pantheon and Jinx ones are trash. Riot is just being lazy and don't give a damn about the player base anymore. Been waiting all year to buy some of the harrowing skins, but apparently not since Riot decided to spit on us.
Bonnibel1 votesTechnically Zombies are still a Halloween event, if they are oversaturated/unoriginal I guess that's Riot's decision on whether they want to make it original (pretty hard nowadays) or not. The Shadow Isles are more of a place in Runeterra, like Demacia and Ionia, so I see why they want to untie it from a week in october and give it space to grow lore-wise.
I don't think they're being lazy, even because we haven't seen what they have planned for us pretty soon. My idea of lazy would be hitting the same key every year and expecting people to still be excited for something they've seen done by League many times before, but that's subjective! :X
All the upsets for not having the event on October 31 or having it Shadow Isles-themed aside, we are still getting the Legacy Halloween skins if that's what you mean by "Been waiting all year to buy some of the harrowing skins". The halloween vault will definitely open when the event starts soon. Soon as in next week-ish, not december or anything.

The differentiation between Halloween and Harrowing was made in order to not make the event on October 31.

An event to go along with the new lore would have been really really nice. Maybe making a mist covered version of Butchers Bridge or something using TT assets. It couldn't have been that hard...
