While I adore a good Princess Bride quote as much as the next person, and while the above quote might seem in line with Gangplank's current artistic hobbies, I'm not sure he has 6 fingers. I think finger number 4 is actually his rather long thumb, wrapped round the pistol grip. Good eye, though!

Looking at the model, Your finger 5 is actually finger 4.
Your Finger 4 looks to be the thumb.
Interesting but I think its just blurry art.
Digit 4 is the thumb facing upwards, connecting back with the middle finger.
So basically its pinky, ring and middle finger wrapped around the posterior handle. Index point up around the trigger, and thumb wrapped around the anterior handle.
I think the 4th finger is actually the thumb running along the outside of the gun, you just cant see it because the artwork gives no distinction.
The digit labeled as "4" is actually a very long thumb. Get your eye-glasses prescription checked. Its time.

i think number 4 is just the trick of the paint since thats the trigger and it needs space and the lighting is going off his glove certainly weird but his in game model has 5 fingers so im goin with that

I think it's his thumb, the thumb would normally curl infront of the 2 middle fingers. Especially with the index finger on the trigger, holding the thumb next to the fingers feels very awkward and loose grip. Fingers/hands are really really hard to draw.

Wouldn't be surprised that Gangplank in all of his badassery made time in between stealing Swain's ship and pissing off the Order of Shadows to murder Ingio Montoya's father, but "finger" number four is actually his thumb. Although I'll admit anatomically if that was the case, he's holding his sword in a very uncomfortable way to his index finger.
