Kindred's artistic design is a rip off

Help Save Chiara Bautista's Artwork!

The similarities between Kindred's theming and original characters created by Chiara Bautista are painfully obvious. It really, really bums me out to see one of my favorite companies rip off one of my favorite artists. I can't look at Kindred and not see Chiara's work showing through. Riot has a team of talented artists and they resort to this? It's just sad...

Honestly I doubt there is much of a connection here. Kindreds design comes from merging the concept of lamb&wolf with Yin&Yang and death(originally intended to be life&death).

With the yin and yang comes already the dark/white color scheme that is similar, the masks are also a result of that(possibly combined with princess mononoke reference). Giving wolf a more pet-like role was mainly because they had trouble making a real double-champion.His more mistlike appearance is a result of giving wolf a head, but no body, while giving lamb a body but no visible head,so there is again this yin-yang theme. And honestly the similarities more or less boil down to: White girl with animal motif(and mask) and dark wolf companion.

I feel bad for Chiara that people now think of her artworks as fanart for kindred, but stuff like this happens all the time,I mean 2 people who never met managed to invent "dennis the menace" at the same time https://www.plagiarismtoday.com/2010/10/18/the-odd-case-of-dennis-the-menace/

I don't see much of a resemblance.

That aside, I did know about this artist.

Tell ya what is a rip off...this thread. Because we've all seen it before.

While I understand your (and Chiara's) concern, as the art is similar, such a contrast as artistic device is nothing new and a simple Google Image search will prove it. When I am not busy pretending to do homework, I'll find and post some pictures to illustrate my point.

Because the juxtaposition of predator/prey, yin/yang, dark/light, male/female hasn't ever shown up in character design before.

I would've said this was inspired by/ripped off Princess Mononoke first.

One is a celestial wolf, the other a girl with a bunny mask. They are not the same thing.
