Regarding Viktor's lore change in new Jayce stories

So what exactly did they change in it that much? Pretty much the only thing that is really new is that Viktor and jayce used to be buddies and they changed that this happened before Viktor became a cyborg(which actually implies that he did change afterwards),but the rest is basically just like Jayces old lore,only a bit more detailed described.
