How can I become a Concept Artist

As many know concept art is still a new thing so there arent many universities that teach it. I'm trying to become one but there is no one to teach me but the internet. I do learn a lot from it but its still very confusing and i was wondering if the artists at riot or (artist in general) could help me by sharing their path. What did they do to to end up where they did.

Currently im a Grafic Design student. I dont like it and i feel like im waisting my time when i could be practicing my drawings. (i still have the parents problem. cuz they have very little idea of what concept art is)

oh well here is my artstation if anyone is interested: https://www.artstation.com/artist/swoobats

thanks for your time Illaoi

I'm not a concept artist myself, but I think I can offer some advice that helped me.

If you want to be a Concept Artist, then make art.

It's that simple (For me, I want to be a Game Designer, so I design game systems and concepts).

Practice and spend your time drawing and making art. If it's your passion, it'll be easy for you.

My mentor gave me a solid piece of advice. Experience > Education, and Passion > Experience.

If you have passion for your art, you will get better as you draw and draw, and to be hired as a Concept Artist, you need a strong portfolio with solid art that you made.

Good luck. I look forward to seeing your art in a game one day :D

dont draw anime, if you still want to draw anime then take an art class that will teach you drawing realistic things, it makes the anime style look way better when the artist is much better at making things look more realistic rather than too cartoonish or bad quality.

It used to be talent, but nowadays, you got to know the right people at Riot to pay under the table.
