Hello,

ever since the new Xerath lore was released, I was wondering about the following: In the old lore, it is mentioned that Xerath did not fully break free from his cage. Thus, I always thought that the chunks and chains surrounding him ingame would be said broken, yet still existant cage. It is also mentioned that he joined the League in order to find someone to release him from the last parts of his cage, so that he is entirely free.

Now in the new lore, the cage isn't mentioned any more at all.

So, was this idea dropped and his ingame appearence now actually is his final, free form?

They didn't think it through. I think that's pretty clear. If it was too weak to hold him, it should have been broken in the years he was imprisoned. It doesn't matter because they just handwaved away all the aspects that didn't fit the plot to make Sivir desert Princess and Azir a noble bird zombie.

Xerath was put into the sarcophagus by Nasus and Renekton. It was shattered in an instant, but it still remained on his body(and probably still limits his powers),he was then thrown into the tomb with Renekton.
