Problems with Aurelion Sol's lore/backstory

Disclaimer: His full lore hasn't been released and it may solve everything.

Nasus A few years ago we have nasus, he comes from some super advanced alien world and has such extreme power that the entire world begged for his mercy, cut to him being shot to death by a blow-dart. Teemo His lore was updated and his power-level was reduced to that of an ascendant and any mentioned of a whole civilization created for just one (and later 2) champions was removed.

Now we have Aurelion sol. Who is by far and away the most powerful champion (he can MAKE STARS) enslaved by a civilization that can travel between world and has the power to enslave a cosmic being that can CREATE STARS.

Malphite Chogath RekSai So power imbalance will always exist in LoL there is no denying that, but at least everyone was within a similar range, a range that aurelion sol blows out of the water, this is kind of unfortunate but somewhat inevitable, but I still think that he could have just as easily been a manipulator of cosmic energy instead of a creator of stars, or maybe the celestial of the heavens part of the same pantheon as kindred and bard but whatever.

My real issue comes from the introduction of an advanced race of beings so far removed from what is considered cannon within the League of Legends universe that they probably have the ability to wipe runeterra and every champion out of existence. Not only does this completely throw out of wack our perception of the lol universe but make every lore question pale in comparison to what is that civilizations goals, what are they doing, how can we defend ourselves against them (see Stargate).

Vi Zed I don't really care about who VI's sister is or who zed really is when there is a space-faring civilization, or even the capability for one to exist if aurelion sol wipes out this particular one, that could be a danger to everyone. LoL lore is essentially a character driven story and this makes it into one more about circumstance and what is happening than who.

Yeah, the writing for him is PRETTY bad. If making a giant, wise, noodly dragon wasn't possible, why not make him a smaller, younger one. His current personality isn't "wise and ageless" it's "arrogant and condescending", so they were already diverging from the wise old dragon idea anyway. Why not make him a young, smug member of some sky dragon race that is MASSIVELY full of himself because he's a freaking dragon? It would put his power level lower, make him possible to write for and not add the idea of FREAKING ALIENS to a game that has been meticulously writing all it's "it came from another world" lores out of it's own canon anyway. The void is the only other world left with nasus and renek being from Shurima now and Fiddlesticks/Nocturne's lore essentially non-canon since the league doesn't exist anymore.

A-Sol has a cool kit (That Q seems pretty broken tho), but his lore is awful. I'd have rather had an arrogant young dragon determined he could take over the world because he's better than you than a smug, narcissistic sky beast talking down to everyone. Is that just the new direction for champ's VO's? I mean, he literally calls Illaoi a moron and claims she doesn't understand her own god. When someone like Jhin does that... it's funny because he's a normal, if crazy, guy and he's just annoyed by her preaching. When the omnipotent dragon god does it... well, either he's entirely wrong and thus not all that smart and knowledgeable... or Illaoi's entire character is thrown under the bus.

They need to tone back on the godlike monsters and over the top nonsense for a bit.

Getting locked =/= Weak as fuck

You guys already overesimated Aurelion Sol. Some of them said Aurelion Sol's hand is bigger than a full size star, some of them said Aurelion Sol can kill all other champions with only one hand move.

Also, Aurelion Sol never meant to be a wise dragon, not even Ao Shin. That's what people assumed because generally Eastern Dragons are wise and patient. But Aurelion Sol has a personality of a Western Dragon. Extremely arrogant is not something only on Aurelion Sol. A lot western dragon is super asshole beings in a lot fantasy universe.

He says that her god is more complex that what she thinks, and it makes sense since its a god, and mortals cant fully comprenhend a god. He doesnt say that she is wrong or that her god is not real

Ok... imagine you're the pope. Imagine that you have devoted your whole life to a religion. Imagine that you have studied and worshipped and learned all you could about your faith. Now imagine some fat, arrogant alien floats down from space and says "Oh yeah... your religion is cute. You're really bad at it tho. The thing you're worshipping is just the tumor on the butt of a bigger god.".

If you're not imagining putting a gun to your head, you're doing it wrong. The all-knowing cosmic being schtick makes a lot of arguements and interpretations of things WRONG. It ruins storytellings since dragon jehovah can just tell you what's right, wrong or relevant in the cosmos. It also puts the scale of things so high that no one SHOULD care if Garen and Kat get together or if Lissandra takes over some shit. It's all cosmic dust. It's all small. Who gives a crap?

Either that, or A-Sol is a massive lying pile of crap who just WANTS to seem all-powerful. And given that he will regularly be killed by normal mortals in the game, that's the one I'm gonna go with.

Except that this is not the case, a better example would be: Imagine if the Pope sudenlly meets Helios (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helios) and Helios tells him that God is actually real, but is too complex for his mortal understanding.

That... doesn't answer the question of the raised scale making the smaller, personal plots irrelevant. I also disagree. The fat alien doesn't worship your god. In fact given how he acts he'd probably look down on it at stupid or insignificant. Even if he doesn't... the fat alien has a closer relationship and understanding of your god than you who have devoted your ENTIRE LIFE to your god.

You don't see how that diminishes the character somewhat? How giant cosmic beings diminish the relevance of pretty much EVERY other story in the setting? Will gangplank take back bilgewater? Who cares... giant space dragon. Will Shen kill zed? Redeem him? Will they catch Jhin or will he go on killing? Who cares? It's all dust in the universe and the giant space dragon could crush our sun for lulz if he wanted to. The shadow isles? Space Dragon. The void? Space Dragon. Shurima? Mother @#$%ing Space Dragon.

He renders nearly every other story small and insignificant by existing. And if the game chooses instead to mostly ignore him and all of the plot threads and questions his existence (and the aliens that control him) raises then HE is pretty pointless and irrelevant and he becomes a... I can't think of a single way that adding him to the lore makes it BETTER. I could be wrong, of course. But it seems to be like a very bad spot of writing and something that veers the game's setting off into left field for no real reason while raising a ton of questions and confusing everything. I expect that his lore and the implications of it will be mostly ignored by Riot after his release... barring maybe a mention in the Targon story. He's just too big in scope and too powerful to write for. If he's on your side... you win. If he's against you... you lose. If he does nothing, then he has no point in the story. He's not a character he's a plot device.

Seriously you overestimate old nasus. The "whole world begged for his mercy"?That never happened. The summoners who summoned him begged for mercy,but this was likely not because they were afraid of him,but because they wanted his help,its the sort of "please forgive us for doing that with you,but we need your help"-kind of thing.

Also it says that the race that enslaved Aurelion tricked him,so it is safe to say that a full powered aurelion sol would be too much for them under normal circumstances. Not to mention that said race are likely the celestials(like pantheon),so they might be limited in their ability to interact with runeterra.

Also we already had a void as a threat to runeterra as a whole,why is it suddenly such a big deal that they announce another big threat?
