Mages In League

I've been having this argument with a friend that is a fanatic about lore ( like me) so : is Xerath, Brand or Ryze the most powerful mage? My moneu goes on Xerath since he's pure arcane energy. So what do you think?

I don't think Brand counts as a mage. He is not a human using magic, he is a spirit inhabiting a human body. I also suspect Lissandra is on the same power-tier as Ryze.

Most powerful: Xerath Most knowledgeable: Ryze Highest potential: Syndra

Brand's more of an elemental spirit than a mage, but even at that he only seems about as powerful as Xerath at best.

Veigar

He has a hat and a staff, that makes him an actual mage unlike the others.

And he creates black holes.

Case closed.

Xerath is probably the most powerful, in terms of pure magic ability. But honestly, he's kind of an idiot. I get the feeling Ryze is the opposite, he may not have the potential of Xerath, but what magic he does have he uses economically, intelligently.

I would say Xerath. Xerath historically has been far more catastrophic and dangerous than Brand as known.

Brand's sarcophagus was instantly shattered by Xerath when he was sealed, an artifact hold Brand for a millenia (and probably would even more if it wasn't weakened by Xerath).

Latter, Nasus and Renekton has chosen what was happening to Brand, It can be said that it was agreed by them what was going on in capital was far worse than "a vengeful being". If he was thaaaat dangerous, Nasus and Renekton would do anything to stop him, as they did for Xerath.

Lastly, as said by Sancre, Brand being free did not threaten Runeterra as much as Xerath did.

if xerath is pure arcane energy ryze could control him

Right now? Xerath I think. Xerath is an unstable mass of arcane power, born of taking more that was destined to be given out of the Sun Disk

Ryze has lots of experience and probably has 101 tricks under his sleeve, but he is a normal, old archmage, that already speaks tomes about him, but if we are comparing age and magic powers, the winner is clear between these 2.

Brand depends on what Riot do at the end with him, if he is the one that appeared in Nasus 's bio, he is no pushover to have both ascended brothers going for him, but nothing really grave has happened with him being around during the whole time Xerath was imprisoned, so he might be over Ryze in power level, but behind Xerath
