Who is the Horned Dude in PROJECT: OVERDRIVE?

I don't think the horns help id him that much as that could be the result of a skin. Lets look at things that usually stay pretty consistent. Gender: Either that thing is male, or heavily armoured enough that we can't tell. Size: Hard to get a good size estimate, but based on him imprinting on the scientist and standing about twice as tall as the crouching Fiora and sitting Yi (0:58), I'd say he's about as tall as a tall human. Weaponry: He dual wields blades. Going through all the current champs that are human sized and shaped, male, and dual wield blades, I get this list: Olaf Shen Shaco Draven

The most similar one is in my eyes Shen. If the weapons are to remain similar, Shen is the only one who keeps two swords crossed on his back like that, as seen at (1:26). The armour looks a bit like the Warlord skin, but the face and horns don't really match up in the quick glimpse we get up close (0:21). Neither, of course, are dead on replicas, and it could just as easily be a new skin or new champ. The main point of relevance to me is the weapons. The weapon itself often changes, but its rare that the general shape or the way in which it is held changes much. as such, I think the closest we get to a champ on the current roster is Shen.

Did I miss any possible suspects? Do you think this is an as of yet unheard of guy? Who do you think the Horned Dude is? Thoughts, comments and discussion down below!

It's probably a new character/champion. Looks like a darkin kinda

This is a shared phantom across all the skins. Or, at least, they all experience something like this. Fiora seems the most experienced, as she's the one who snaps Yi out of his daze upon first seeing the vision after being saved. Perhaps it's some sort of encoding that the scientists used to try and control their creations. Or, perhaps it's the being that killed them all to begin with. (Assuming these skins are upgrades / remakes of the original champions.)

I could see it being a Shen skin. Knowing how Zed and Shen are rivals, we see Shen at the time when we most clearly define him (the crossed swords down the back) right as Zed makes his entrance. It looks like Zed is coming to wreck havoc and I inagine Shen just wants to stop it.

Really don't think it's Shen. In the lore, Shen is the "good" guy, while Zed is the "bad" guy, so I don't see why Yi would be traumatized/rivaled by Shen. If anything, i'd say it's either a Zed skin, or a new champ.

By the helmet, I`d say Olaf , which would be awesome if he had a project skin.

My personal theory on the horned guy... is that there is no horned guy. Just Yi's conflicting memories creating a hallucination that he can understand easily. That particular image is his mind showing him a threat. And when he saw it after being saved by Fiora, I believe it was him sensing Zed's presence.

I just assumed that the horned dude was what Zed looked like before he left Ionia. Presumably he would leave the island and settle his School of Shadow training somewhere else.

I think it's the demon Shaco.

  • The cyborgs involuntarily stimulate an unfathomable psychic phenomena in the visage of Shaco for the purpose of unlocking the user's higher potential; but the enigmatic Shaco is actually there.

  • The users have died and are reanimated through hyper-advanced techmaturgy. Their soulless bodies are empty vessels for Shaco to exploit.. all Project cyborg users may experience the same intrusion from demons.

I also get a feeling that the horned-figure is a darkin. It just looks like it could be one.

Well since in the video the Warlord is represented by Zed most of the time, I think they somehow tie together. And also the tree must be symbolic for something because when Yi crushes the petal it marks the end of the visions, along with the (death?/defeat) of Zed. Also worth mentioning that Yi is obviously important to the group because he is saved rather than Leona in the back and Fiora was also about to give her life to save him when Zed first attacks

On second thought it's probably Shen. Even though according to the lore Shen is supposed to be good, he does have that Warlord skin with two swords...

Guys this black samurai was just a volunteer of the kinkou order (zed and Shen order), because there is a time in Ionia, that there is too much peace, so to restore balance, the kinkou order choose a volunteer to be the bad guy to restore balance in unlocking the forbidden shadows arts. And what Master Yi see, is the last moment of an old wuju master. That’s why this black samurai has the same movement as zed in the clip. So this isn’t Shen, or a new champion, or a new zed skin, this is just a reference to the zed story.

okay its been 4 years. Its actually the last known (or if you want correctly, uknown) user of the forbidden shadows techniques 200 years ago from todays timeline (not project). Thats why from Master Yi's perspective we see Zed as that Samurai. So 200 years ago (I repeat from todays timeline, not project future one), Previous Wuju Master fought that Shadow Samurai and won. Thats why Project Yi has some rather strange quotes such as "these are not my thoughts" "a voice of a stranger echoes in my mind" or when he ults "My mind is free, I am Yi" . This isnt Yi its just Project robot who was made to be like Yi, to use Wuju style in Project era. And I quess that robot named Project:Yi holds memories of past Wuju masters aswell. Now to explain forbidden shadow part. Kinkou order was there to restore balance right? And they also had the shadow box right? And we know for a fact that its been 200 years since last shadow user. So, the Kinkou are the good guys that restore balance? WRONG. Restoring balance always brings first thoughts to be like - stopping wars to restore balance to the peace. But whats with the other side? If there was too much peace 200 years ago, I am 100% sure it was their duty to enforce the chaos to restore balance. And how would they enfore the chaos? Through the usage of forbidden shadow arts. As seen in Wuju Masters memories the whole battle area was in flames and it did smell like chaos.EDIT:In the freaking trailer we see that shadow samurai using gap closing technique similiar to Zeds W:Living Shadow. And finally , to explain why Zed is different from that shadow samurai 200 years ago. When Zed,Shen and Kushou captured Jhin Zed wanted to kill him on the spot, Shen was neutral but Kushou said that he is only taking him prisoner. Zed was the guy that wanted justice for all the victims Jhin had slaughtered. But Kushou being Master at Kinkou order that keeps balance in check, took him as a means of provoking the CHAOS if peace breaks the balance. Zed just wanted to be better Ninja than Shen. Thats why he opened the shadow box. He didnt become evil. When he came back to Kinkou with an army, Kushou welcomed him ,said that he failed him as master and called him in the temple to have a talk. Lets assume Kushou revealed the purpose of the box and answered the question at the same time why he had take Jhin prisoner instead of executing him for his crimes. Then he probably suggested Zed to become the chaos to bring back balance from peace, then break it into chaos so that Shen could bring peace again or whatever. Then Zed screamed ,walked out with Kushous head and ordered his ninjas in anger to slaughter everyone. Because BALANCE IS WEAKNESS. BALANCE IS FOOLS MASTER and IGNORANCE IS FATAL. Glad you understood

The helmet looks like olafs, but the weapons and general stance don't fit him at all,so I'd say that it isn't any of the champs that we currently have. It might be a new champ,an old champ concept or simply someone they created specifically for this video.

I mean they did use Ao shin in the Udyr comic, despite the fact that Ao shin was still in the early development stages and is probably going to look quite different when he finally gets done.

I think it was Shen. The parts when Yi has those flash backs among the flowers and stuff, the place resembles Ionia a lot. And also I find it to be too much of a coincidence that the Dual wield dude shows up beside Zed in almost the entire video, suggesting that they could have bonds.

SHENSE19/10/2015, 12:43:57 AM1 votes

Cosmetically, it's Shen. The vid even briefly shows zed and this warlord dude together as the real world and flashback blend together. However, I think Shen is WAY too pure to hang with zed, willingly or otherwise; more than any other champ I think he's been portrayed as a paragon of virtue. But I also immediately thought of him in appearance.

id like to add MasterYi is experiencing Yasuos memories so this it may the noxian the killed the elder he was supposed to protect?

Shogun Zed^^ , Yi saw the future.

At least that would be the skin I'm waiting for :D

But seems to me Yi is the only one that sees that guy. I dont think it's Shen, maybe his shadow joined Zed lol.

Hayaishi29/10/2015, 11:34:41 PM1 votes

Seems like an ally to Zed, hope he is a new champion for an ionian event, i've been waiting years for it.
