Petricite Absorbing Magic Explains so Much

In Sylas' lore it reveals that petricite absorbs magic, which explains so much about why there are so many mages in Demacia, despite strong anti-magic sentiment, and why the land is so fertile when other areas with minimal magic presence like Noxus Prime and Shurima are usually arid or not fertile at all. A lot of petricite means a lot of magic is being absorbed from somewhere, right?

And then there's the fact that Ryze keeps all the World Runes in a vault under the petricite groves, the vault itself is even made of petricite. The lore says Ryze thinks the petricite suppresses the World Runes but we know that's not true anymore: It absorbs their magic.

No wonder there's so much magic in Demacia and evidence of magic, there's an archmage keeping like 20 runes of world-shattering power underneath an entire field of magic-absorbing rocks.

Petricite has been absorbing magic since Galio's rework.

It's not indicated anywhere that any of the other regions have more or less magic present than Demacia. I mean hell, Noxus is currently in a political war between a cabal of ancient mages and a mage general, while a great deal of the champions from Noxus utilize magic in some form or fashion. Then there's Shurima, who's country was founded on harnessing the magic of the cosmos through a sun disk, and their elite of the past were cosmically infused beings - plus, we see evidence of magic EVERYWHERE in Ezreal's lore as he explores Shurima as well as through Taliyah's existences as a hereditary mage. Then if we move to Piltover/Zaun, magic is everywhere there as the engineers try to find ways to harness it and merge it with science and technology. I don't even HAVE to mention Ionia or the Shadow Isles and their omnipresence of magic, or even the Freljord, with a magical race of ice people. So it's a little tough to say that Demacia has more magic than anywhere else...

That said, we also have no indication what happens to the magic petricite absorbs. Obviously, Durand created Galio, and the magic he absorbs gives him life (so it wasn't news that Petricite absorbs magic...), but we don't know if it's consumed like an energy, or simply dispersed after a time. So we really don't have evidence that the petricite cells holding the World Runes are distributing that magic in any other way.

The irony. The reason why Demacia is so fertile and rich is because they've been stealing magic from all over. And because I'm sure all citizens and warriors carry the material whenever they travel , they are bringing it inside the kingdom whenever they return.

That and there's a group that knowingly uses magic for Demaica and the one of the future king's closet allies is a freakin Dragon , and two daughters from the royal families ( Lux and Sona ) are a couple of the most powerful mages in existence.

Honestly , Sylas doesn't have to kill or destroy anything. Release this information the demacians will destroy themselves.

Which means Sylas might have less trouble getting recruits for his Glorious Mages' Revolution than I first thought.

Hold up, we know Garen's ult looks distinctly magical (giant sword). We know the special rock absorbs magic. We can be reasonably certain Garen's armor is Demacian steel, and thus contains said special rock.

What if his ult is what happens when his magic-absorbing armor reaches its cap and overflows?

This sounds like the plot for a really good story about the Demacian Royal Public Works Authority investigating unusual fertility around the World Rune Storage Facility. It writes a report revealing that the petricite of the vault has absorbed as much magic as possible and has begun leaking into the earth around it.

Public panic and official consternation ensues as Demacians recognize that this fertility extends throughout their land, and that the food they eat and water they drink have been touched by magic for generations. Protests surge throughout the country, demanding that the facility be closed or quarantined, and the World Runes be destroyed.

What a political thriller that would be...

So the Petricite being a battery theory is pretty much proven here. Yay that makes things easier.

Yes. You must not read the stories because all of what you said was kinda explained in them lol

Why do you think that Galio is alive, when he is literally a petricite statue? Because he absorbed Lux's magic.

So basically. Demacia is a ticking giant Rune bomb now at this point.

This just makes me feel even worse for Galio, poor guy is made up of a magic absorbing rock from people who hate magic, and can only gain sentience in battle against the very thing he was made to “destroy”.
