Question about Lee Sin

Back at the end of the year last year, League was going through all sorts of changes. On of those changes was in it's story. A few champs received updated bios and we started seeing some awesome videos and stories coming from Riot. One of the finer points of this change to story was about summoners and The Institute. According to Carnival Knights' comment on the Dev Blog: Exploring Runeterra, these are no longer canon.

This is where the question comes in. Lee Sin's whole story comes from his young days of training to become a summoner and join the Institute. This ended with him accidentally killing a young boy and setting himself on fire in atonement for this incident. The fire is what lost him his eyes.

But if the League isn't a thing, and summoners aren't a thing, then none of the above ever happened. So, if Lee Sin never had a reason to set himself on fire... is he no longer blind?

Lee sin is one of these champs who currently have no canon lore,just like Nocturne Chogath Brand Fiddlesticks Jax

Although I guess it is still possible for lee sin to be a summoner apprentice,since summoners existed in runeterra already before the IoW.

The whole Ionia vs Noxus conflict currently needs a revision,so I guess they'll fix Lee sins lore once they are taking care of that.

You're getting some incidents confused here.

As a Summoner in training, Lee sin accidentally killed a boy, and became a monk to atone. He then set himself on fire to protest the Noxian Invasion of Ionia.

So even with the removal of the IoW, these incidents could still happen.
