Can We Talk About How Disappointing Arcade Ahri Is?

So i just bought the new Arcade Ahri skin and looked at it in a custom and my one and only thought about it is "This skin is good, but it's not worth 1350 RP."

Here is my thought process as to why i think this way:

Arcade Ahri is one of three arcade skins that came out along with Ezreal and Corki. If you take a look at their respective skins, they have video game reference and their animations fit the champion.

Ezreal's video game references include: -looking like the protagonist from The World Ends with You -his recall is a Final Fantasy Battle -he shoots Navi from Legends of Zelda with his W -his ult looks like a move straight from Kingdom Hearts (which may or may not be an intentional reference).

Corki's video game references include: -his ship looks like it came from F-Zero -his recall is a game of Galaga -his package is a mystery box from Super Mario Bros.

Now we come to Arcade Ahri: -I've looked through her abilities and I cannot name one video game reference. This either means that the staff assigned to this skin either did not think of putting in any video game references (which is the point of theses arcade skins) or that the references are so obscure that close to no one will even notice. -Another problem I have with this skin is that her particles look less polished and more static than the other two skins. Her orb repeats the same animation while its traveling and when her passive is active. Her foxfires look like cheap fire with only 3-4 frames of animation. Her charm and ult are fine in my opinion but i do feel that her charm could be made into a very easy reference (hint hint: LoZ heart). -Also her recall animation is just awkward and out of character (Ahri is Ahri, not JInx).

Some changes that could be made to show some video game references in Arcade Ahri include but not limited to: -making her orb look like a hadouken when its traveling -her foxfires could spin around similar to the fireballs in Super Mario Bros. -her charm could look like a heart from Legend of Zelda -her recall could be a platformer scenario, this would show Ahri as someone who is quick on their feet

Now for the things I like about Arcade Ahri: I find the design to be very cute with the combination of short hair, short shorts, and the color scheme. The little effect where her foxfire are sucked in and out is a nice addition. Her Splash art was very well done, a nice dynamic pose that shows her to be an agile character and also references Super Mario Bros. with her stomping on a minion (this does not count for the in-game video game references). And lastly her face, I find the face for this skin to be the perfect fit for Ahri (especially considering how terrible the face for the figure was). It gives her a youthful yet sort of sly look to her. A face you'll love but can't 100% trust.

So all in all, I find Arcade Ahri to be a good skin, but considering it only has half of what the Ezreal and Corki skins have, I suggest it should either have its price reduced to 975, or have the team rework the particles and her recall animation.

I recommend checking out the skins on youtube or any other review before purchasing.

Her skin isn't supposed to be a reference to any particular video game. Her story in this fantasy is a girl who loves video games and goes into the video game she's playing.

From a designer's perspective, with all that the skin comes with (music with dance, heart taunt, rotating colors on tail + sparkles etc) they did more on the skin than previous other 1350 skins, pool party fiora and freljord Taliyah to name a couple have a lot less work done to them, in the same realm of 1350 so I don't see a point in complaining, I think Riot are either stepping up the work they put into each newer skin or they just had a more creative person/people that did this skin, it is also Ahri, basically a succ..ubus item 3027 .. if you know what I mean, skins for sexually appealing characters overall bank them more money in the end. People that don't even play Ahri will buy it, so this could just be them pretending a few extra effects is worth the income they receive for it, not discounting the creativity that was put into the skin, thats just part of the business. Ok, let's talk about the skin's worth outside of the work put into and the content.

The skin was priced at 1350 by the company. Many players have, and will buy it. You yourself bought it, knowing exactly what you were getting. The skin is worth 1350.

I don't really like her recall animation, but I think the skin overall is awesome.

Yeah, it's disappointing, but doesn't mean your reasoning isn't bad either.

a disappointing skin indeed

the only good part it's multi-colored tails

the rest is bad

ugly clothes, ugly haircut, poorly made particles, overall wonky thematic etc

I love how no one likes this person. Indeed, if you were gonna buy it regardless, you couldn't wait for a sale, and she's your favorite character....you really shouldn't complain. I wouldn't compare one skin to another, but look at each individually and appreciate them as they are. Now you're stuck with it so just enjoy it :)
