Hi people, I'm here to ask a few things, nothing basic but more in-depth stuff. I would really appreciate your help.

How does Viktor recieve the money he needs? Does he help the Zaunite governement and recieves funds in exchange? Does he get some sort of donations from privates? What sort of connection does he have with the government? Is he seen as a pillar for the city or a mad man? How does Piltover in its entirety see him? How do Cait, Vi, Heimerdinger and other major individuals see him?

As a thank you for your eventual help I attached my masterpiece. Enjoy.

He has a chicken that lays golden eggs!

Joke aside, the first thing we have to remember is that Zaun is practically run by mega corporations. The government has no real power. Another very important thing is that when Pididly stole Blitzcrank, Viktor's pleas were ignored by the grand court; which is strongly tied to the government as the second of three institutions that "rule the country". I don't think Viktor would be too eager to ask for funds from the institution that wronged him.

On the other hand, with the corporations being so influential, it is possible that some of them are commissioning him to create better industrial equipment and machines. He is after all a scientist, he surely knows how to create something other than augments. And not all companies would want just augments. They're all competing in production and Viktor is probably one of the most innovative creators in Zaun.

He's surely receiving donations from people who believe in his cause, but I imagine that being less than what he probably gets from Zaun's corporations. The corporations don't care who they fund, as long as it's benefiting their development.

The last point, which perhaps belongs at the beginning, is the fact that when he began his transformation, he already had a private laboratory. Not only that, but he attended a prestigious college, and I believe everything in Zaun must be payed for. Perhaps he was from a better standing family.

Viktor generally acts as a secluded person, and even though he may be viewed as an outcast in Zaun, Piltover's government couldn't have known about that. They probably didn't want to risk attacking a person that might be very important to Zaunites.

Think of Viktor's Glorious Revolution as a religion, with him as the leader. Some Zaunites probably revere him as a savior, since his augmentations can produce miracles. From allowing the crippled to walk, the blind to see, or even bringing back those on the brink of death his machines can accomplish what was previously thought impossible. With enough augmentations a person could even live forever. People would come to his lab in droves to either have their injuries healed, or be allowed to break the limits of the human form.

Some might bring donations but most of his research is probably paid for by the Zaunites government to keep him from possibly going independent or utilizing his hold on the Zaunite population to take control of the city. This also lends itself to why Piltover wouldn't support Jayce's assault on Viktor's lab, to the average Zaunite it would appear as an attempt to eradicate the one person in Zaun who is actually doing something to help the populace.

Piltover probably tries to use propaganda to make it sound like Viktor forces people to become augmented, so they can join his mechanized army, and eventually try to take over the world. When in reality augmentations are only given to those who want them. Piltover fears the Glorious Evolution because it threatens to invalidate most of their own technology. Who needs floating cars when augments can allow you to move just as fast and without the high cost of maintaining a vehicle? Why purchase high cost- high tech medicine when augments can make you immune to illness. Why buy high tech laser turrets when Viktor can augment a person so that they can't be targeted by weapons system.

Piltover knows Viktor's technology can invalidate their own and it is only time before he brings his evolution to the Piltovian public.

I believe Viktor had his work stolen by prominent Zaunite scientist Dr. Stanwick Pididly, tarnishing his name and causing him to mechanically augment himself to remove feelings of grief and shame.

I honestly think, as far as Zaun goes, Viktor is an outcast, looking to take the whole city-state by force and punish the society that basically ruined his life. He's probably staying underground, working on his Batttlecast creations and biding his time until he has the numbers to make a move.

Where his money comes from, I have no idea. Illicit underground activity maybe? Maybe Ekko hates him because he might be picking up Zaun street kids for test subjects.

- - - - - I imagine he get's his funds partially from donations, but mostly from Zaunite government jobs. Quite simply the bulk of the willing participants of the evolution are going to be in a situation where a more durable form and a dulling of the undesirable emotions would be wanted. This leads me to believe that the majority of participants are industrial era workers who need to work to survive or care for their families these people probably aren't going to have a lot in the way of spare change. - - - - - From a darker view, perhaps it's funded by donations of corporations that want enhanced workers to be more prevalent, these workers then push other workers out and force them to need enhancement. That could explain why Zauns youth dislikes The Machinist; parents that can provide for children are empty and are only cold caretakers while parents that can still have an emotional bond with their children can't compete and can't provide. - - - - - Getting on to what Zaun gives to Viktor it quite likely commissions equipment ranging from utilitarian to weapons from him. It is also reasonable to believe that they would pay him just to keep him in Zaun. It would not be unreasonable to think that while Zaun and Piltover are the only sciency city states mentioned Viktor could pick-up and move somewhere else (perhaps a small independent city or territory) and take a large chunk of Zauns workforce with him.

Viktor "I need another grant"

"what but we just gave you more money"

Viktor "The evolution grows by hundreds, humanity improves, Zaun becomes more productive"

"We can't just keep throwing more money to your evolution Viktor"

Viktor "Noxus's recent invasion of Ionia has left some rather large areas rich with resources open for settlement, a few thousand workers could move in and out produce Zaun within the decade."

"You'll have your funds Viktor."

I assume Viktor receives donations from his acolytes which help keep him afloat, while possibly getting funds from the government as well. Piltover refused to support Jayce in getting back his crystal from Viktor, believing that it could cause a war with Zaun in the process, so that leads me to believe that Viktor is an important figure in Zaun. No one in Piltover seems to like him, because of his personality and the fact he's from their rival city-state. Ekko seems to be the only other Zaunite who hates him, besides maybe Janna, while the rest don't seem to have an opinion of him either way, save his creation, Blitzcrank.

He attended a prestigious university and had a private laboratory so his family probably had money to fund him. Also since he is a genius, he surely received some kind of scholarship aimed for talented students during his younger years, even if he refused to take more money from people that deceived him the savings could be enough for him to continue his work towards the spread of glorious evolution.

Right now, since he is basically the leader of a cult, he surely receives some donations.
