Questions regarding Star Guardian lore
First off, I'm a massive fan of the magical girl genre and I love pretty much everything about the character designs of the current Star Guardian lineup. They're by far the most visually interesting I've seen since Madoka Magica, and bringing the high fantasy, Tolkein-esque setting of the game to modern times is a very interesting twist on the genre. However, after reading through Starfall, the character bios, and literally every red post on the Star Guardians and their world, I was left with a few questions that I'm practically dying to know the answer to.
1. Is it set in modern day Demacia? Or is it a completely different world that shares similar names?
Valoran City and Mount Targon are both canon locations in the lore, but nowhere is the actual country or kingdom mentioned. It would make sense that it's the same world, since no one seems to bat an eye at the fact that Ahri is a vastayan with ears and a tail, or that Poppy and Lulu are yordles. In fact, the different races are such a mundane topic that Lux never once refers to them as yordle or vastayan throughout the entirety of Starfall, nor does she even feel that Ahri's ears and tail, nor Soraka's horn are even worth mentioning when she describes them. It seems that such a complete numbness to otherwise striking and forward features would be a logical result of living in a world where vastayan's and other fantasy races live together with humans. Although, this does lead into my next question...
2. Are Poppy and Lulu still yordles? If they are still yordles, is it for cultural or cosmetic reasons that they shave their fur?
Only asking for the obvious reason that Lulu and Poppy both appear to be completely without fur, and at the same time, are never once referred to as yordles. In Starfall, Lux makes no mention of either girls being shorter than normal. Janna and Lux never tease the girls for being short, while Jinx does so consistently, and this makes a lot of sense if Poppy and Lulu were yordles; making fun of them for being short could be in especially bad taste, which explains why Lux and Janna shy away from short jokes while Jinx rattles them off nonstop: Jinx is much closer to Poppy than the other girls, and comfortable enough that Poppy doesn't take offense.
3. How are the girls selected? Are there many different planets? Are the nonhuman girls aliens? Shape shifters? Immortal?
Lots of questions tied into one big question that I think can all be answered together. So far I understand that Lux is a highschool student who made a Madoka-esque contract to become a magical girl, but what about the other girls? Again, it's treated as utterly unremarkable that Ahri and Soraka and Janna all have animal features, but it's also implied that Ahri and Janna are super, super old. So old that the story Janna tells Lulu (Ahri's story) is so ancient that she partly believes its just a myth. So Star Guardian's being immortal makes sense. Immortal beings of immense power enrolling in a high school to fit in, by anime standards, makes perfect sense. However, Janna tells Lulu that Ahri's battle took place in some "dark corner of the galaxy" which implies that either Ahri was merely a celestial being created by the First Star to defend some lifeless corner of space, or that she's an alien who was approached by the First Star and lulled into signing a contract. Is it Star Trek rules where aliens are just coincidentally extremely human in appearance, or is Ahri shape shifted into her current form?
I have more questions but I feel like getting strong answers to these three will let me connect the rest of the dots on my own (or just raise more questions anyways). Thanks again for creating such a high quality skin line, music that perfectly captures the feel of the genre, and creating the most challenging and enjoyable PvE event this game has ever had!
