No to Ahri's new splash art

Well Ahri was the reason i joined league of legends, she is the champion I mastered (well maybe not that mastered) first, and she is the champ i climb up the ranks, anyway the new splash art seems quite different, and even ugly, I think they tried to give her a more korean look by punching her nose so she has a plain face, but this makes her look awful, anyway just my thoughts.

PD, not an english speaker, dont go grammar nazi :P. Anyway if this has been posted before, I am sorry, but i thought it was a good idea to "repost it" now, since the they added an "update" portrait for her

Do we even know who's making this new splash? It's obvious Knockwurst isn't doing it, since he made the original and some of her skin splashes. http://knockwurst.deviantart.com/

Whoever is in charge of this, who are you? What are you trying to do with the splash? Why does she look so different from the other splashes? Why does this splash have to be modified instead of redone?

Because according to Riot's CEO, "in order to hit the new splash quality, it takes an amazing artist a month to do one piece". Which I guess makes sense, since the guy draws about as well as Rob Liefeld and that guy sometimes took four months to draw one issue of his masterpieces.

I want to disagree with that notion because that feels really slow for putting out content, but I don't know enough about art to actually do so. Gah.

And no, you are absolutely correct in that the artist is lying to him. It takes an average of two weeks to draw commissioned artwork of a character with established character design. A month would require the quality of a cinematic poster with a detailed background, a complex character pose and top-notch artistic integrity. On the other hand, the artwork drawn by this guy has a bunch of heavily blurred lines to create the semblance of a setting, and the characters' anatomy is barely holding together. The guy skips way too many quality assurance steps to justify wasting a month on a single splash.

From my personal experience, I can tell you that it takes 8 months to put together the art assets for a 8-10 hour long visual novel. That includes character sprites, backgrounds and custom images used during special events. If my artist worked at the speed this guy does, my visual novel wouldn't be finished by 2017.

Mind you, there's also the thing where I wouldn't hire this splash artist in the first place. Maybe as a colorist, but the quality of his work is far too low for me to consider him as the lead artist on a project.

Since they can't get her splash right, I want them to just keep her original. I made a post thanking them for reverting it back in the past but now they brought it back & IT'S STILL BAD. The pose for one, is the ugliest pose. With the tails it looks so messy, so does the hair ._. The new icon scared me when I first saw it. Seriously I don't wanna have to see this in game. Can someone start a petition. I dont know 1 person who ever had a problem with Ahri's original splash. It was so perfectly done, I would like to keep the original at least touch it up to make it more HD or have the same artists of Ahri's skin splashes to work on it. Goodness! I can't watch them ruin my girl.

I agree, the pose is awkward. My biggest issue is the eyes is because from far away, it seems like the yellow eyes just dominates the face and becomes more bug-eyed. But since the colors are darker, which makes Ahri's skin tone seem more realistic, it starts treading into uncanny valley with bug-eyes instead of appearing anime-equse.

It's crap even by the standard of chinese game. Her chin looks like she had a bad platsic surgery and the silicone is about to fall off.

Jesus, looking at the new ahri face just makes me wants to cringe. The old ahri face look charming & elegant, the new face just plain .......slutty

I'm really glad riot listen to us and adjust but IMO the new face probly need new start from scratch Either that or just dont change the artwork.

It's not slutty.

It's sexy and seductive, and that fits her. That's what the main focus of her theme is. She is part fox, part human, and breath-takingly beautiful. She's also heavily based off Asian (namely Korean) culture.

The art makes her look more Asian (if there was any doubt with her original art that she was Asian it's completely gone now), and highlights her profound beauty.

inb4 "but she's not pretty anymore"

I don't know about you guys, but I happen to find her absolutely beautiful.

Unlike the old splash which has a "charming" quality to it

If you look at the new splash art from a distance, you notice the chin is way too dark and looks pretty bad. Also the splash art loses a lot of meaning when she's looking away in some random direction.

The hair covers almost as much as it did before. The only change is some of it covers the bottom part of her face. But besides that little side of it her hair covers just as much of her face as before.

And most of it is a positional thing so it's not like a huge deal.

Also, her eyes aren't semi-closed, lol. They're fully open (without trying to pop her eyes out).

I personally loved the 4.19 PBE Splash and wish it were here now. Her current one lacks the quality of Miss Fortune and Vayne.

or the fact you bought Liandry's on a burst build.

On to the topic at hand, the new Ahri splash looks absolutely fantastic. It retains pretty much all the features of her current splash (except the chin, the chin bothers me) while adding another layer to it that really shows Ahri's oriental roots.

Anyway i dont know the word since I am not an english speaker and it is quite hard to express wht i did... I know for a fact that no one can master anything in this game, since there is always better than you, next time just stay on topic friend.. Or dont comment at all.

I did stay on the topic at hand. I told you what I thought of the splash art but you were too blinded by your anger at my smartass comment that you completely missed that.

I've watched his work for awhile.

I'm not very good with drawing. My girlfriend can draw I've watched her sometimes.

I personally liked more 6kart job for Ahri, Artgerm is well known artist and his drawing are damn amazing, however i find his Ahri's (because i think he has done 3 draws of Ahri) quite odd, in that bikini art you posted her waist is quite misplaced and the head is also misplaced, if she stands up her neck is that one of a goose... you can say that by the distance from the chin to the area where the nipples might be situated... :P anatomical proportions, and i have found this weird aspects only in his Ahri drawings, maybe he has a different scope of a foxy lady, maybe is it just me... all of thsi is just my opinion, everyone can agree or disagree... still here is the 6kart drawing

Ive never liked old Ahri's splash. She wasnt attractive in it, it didnt convey her character (lore wise) and the art quality just seemed weaker.

The new art, while it isnt perfect, there are some areas i really like about it. Wheras id hope they made her look more foxy (as the animal) and her laying on a pillow of her tails is odd, shes certainly more attractive. She has a slight seductive charm (which they should play up more) and the quality is vastly improved (as is the standard of modern splashes).
