Malzahar Kassadin and... Karthus?

You guys remember that one entry in the journal of justice, right? This one.

Obviously we're not getting a follow-up to this story at any point, with the journal, institute of war and summoners all being retconned out of the world, and that's fine, most of the details of this story felt really badly hampered by the presence of the league. But I have been wondering if any part of this three-way conflict could potentially be salvaged for future use. Does anyone have any theories or ideas about why Karthus was involved in this fight, or what this "inhibitor" could be? Would you like to see the lore team go back and re-imagine some of the old story ideas presented in the journal of justice, now that summoners and the institute are no longer part of the world?

It is likely that the whole Kassadin vs Malzahar (and the Void) plot remains untouched to the most parts imo since these things all usually occured outside of the whole city-state and IOW issues and this story was pretty solid. :)

I can imagine them getting rid of Karthus as a character here though, he seems out of place.

I was always curious about this event and the "inhibitor" spoke of by Karthus. I hope the Void plot is moved forward at some point in the future.

The last void thing we got was vel'koz, and even that was not much of a lore thing.
