Where did the lore go? What's happening?

I don't understand.

Are they "re-doing" the lore, or is it just not a thing anymore? The Lore made the game, for me anyways, so interesting!

Lore is in Riot Soon™ limbo.

Turns out issuing a massive retcon without lining up story to replace what you have taken out is exactly as stupid and short sighted as it sounds.

Riot was all "Look, we've removed pretty much all of the story. You can pretty much do anything!"

Lore team (LT): "Can we make Trundle from the frozen place?"

Riot: "Eh, we'd prefer you wouldn't, but if it helps you set up lore... Go for it."

LT: Thanks guys!

Later, at the hall of (haven't come up with a name yet, technical issues)

LT: Man, the stories we put out are amazing.

Riot: Guys, people are starting to complain you aren't doing anything and that the virtual blank slate we handed you isn't being used. Almost at all...

LT: Come on, we did that thing with the sand bird guy.

Riot: Azir?

LT: Bless you.

Riot: That's the champions name.

LT: Look, we're having a hard time with our computers, they don't scan the ink ribbons from our type writers correctly.

Riot: Why do you have type writers?

LT: And that's why we need to have Katarina come from the Shadow Isles as Kalistas younger sister.

Riot: Wat.

This is my current iteration of "What's going on at Riot HQ: Lore Department!" I think I'll have a story full of murder, mayhem, birthday parties, and a rubber chicken being raised to become the leader of the world before the lore department can give the community HALF of what we want.

To be fair, they have produced some stuff, but nothing running contrary to the old lore.

Nothing running contrary to anything really. It's all really flashy and super vague. It's all teasers and promos and nothing of substance underneath it. They do seem to be trying to change that, though, as Jaredan has talked a bit about more of the stuff behind Bard.

So apparently the Institute of War and the League of Legends in general was hampering the ability of the Narrative team to write how they wanted to. So they announced a retcon and slowly removed mentions of the two when doing reworks. Fans were expecting something besides three sentences on how mysterious a champion is, and here we are, several months in and no solidifying story at all, just some really nice dioramas from the animation team.

I think it's because of how, in her now non-canon lore, Ahri joined the league to turn her into a human, and having a relationship with a non-human seems counter to that desire.

Lore or "Project Manhattan" is in its development stage and as it stands, no info about the lore will be publicly know to the public until its official release. The fact that they told us any thing about it is still risky at this point and it may cause the enemies to find out about this plan and steal the blueprints for the project.
