Map Boundaries

This is probably a silly question, but I just want to confirm something.

Is the world of Runeterra larger than Valoran, than Demacia and Noxus and Ionia and the Freljord? If Valoran is the primary continent the story is being told on, does that mean there are other lands past the boundaries of the "Map of Runeterra" page? Or is it more akin to those old school JRPG maps that loop around once you hit the "edge?"

Basically, does the "globe" of Runeterra look like this, looping from Demacia to the Ionian isles,

or like this, where, once you get past Demacia or Ionia, here there be dragons?
