I'm a bit disappointed by The New Varus Lore.
I understand that Varus's backstory was pretty limited to like, A paragraph or two, But I loved the concept behind A man with nothing to lose who willingly gave into evil to give evil unto evil. It was neat. So It's just disappointing to look at when I see New Vari trying to resist his darkin self. I mean, I get that The Darkin Has that vengeance aspect, but Darkin's really feel more like an Always Evil Race, they don't share a unity or any real heroic traits.
Aatrox: Wants to paint the world Red in a flourish of glorious conquests. Rhaast: Wants to go on a Killing Spree Darkin Varus: Wants to Unite his kin so that they can kill more people on a quest for vengeance.
Darkin Varus is like the little brother who cares about his brothers. But since his brothers don't share that same Unity, it really takes away from New Varus.
I mean, I'd like this story more if the Darkin weren't the aggressors here, Because the Voidborn and the Darkin have a "Conquer the world" vibe going right now.
Thats why Varus's Old Lore speaks to me more. at the Time, Varus was Varus: An Archer who lost everything, so, with nothing to lose, he isn't about to give a damn cent of mercy to his enemies, and unleashes a silent demon onto the world.
And because it's going to crop up.
I am fine with the decision to make
Gay. It's neat, but i don't love it because it took away from his original lore, y'know continuity and stuff. It fits him less too. The power of Love is going to hold back the power of destroying everything your enemies ever cared about in a fit of vengeance. I feel like maybe if Varus jumped into the pit Because he had nothing to live for after his Husband died, it would've sat better.
Well, The In game will tell for me whether I'll love him or hate him. Wonder what the new Ult's gonna be.
