I know it isn't important, but with new items coming out or being reworked, older items look extremely different and, just like splash art, can be dated or a completely other art style (examples are:

. Is there going to be any sort of change and update to the look of items that aren't being reworked to make aconsistant style for all of the current items?
Well to kinda just say "yes they'll get updated", Randuin's omen just got a new icon on the pbe:
For the observant, and I mean really observant, because I never saw this until it was pointed out to me, that crest belongs to either the Lightshield Dynasty or the current King of Demacia, making Randuin's Omen a demacian shield. What's important to note though is that it was given a new icon because it's part of a big item overhaul coming next patch for armour and mr items. The icon update was something they could add there as there was all ready a mechanical update for the item going on.
So yes, they'll update item icons, it'll just depend on when priorities work out. Black Cleaver and Zeke's were changed specifically because those items underwent big changes. Randuin's is getting some pretty major changes to so it worked out. Might be coming this patch, we'll have to see.
